Interesting. So it is almost an entirely different project using the world of the novel?that is much better than the worst case scenario of erasing female stories and I am glad I asked about it because it was boggling me.

I love TJR and I'll most likely watch this drama anyway, but why did they change the original material of a female lead story to a male lead? Is it because they don't think anyone would be interested in this type of genre with a female leading? And/or is it some kind of misogyny?

I'm so confused genuinely confused by such a massive change. When I went looking for the novel I just thought I found the wrong web novel that the drama was adapting or that they were adapting a spinoff of the webnovel with different characters. But that does not seem to be the case here.

I would love to hear others' answers and thoughts on this. It's really making me blink.

I suspect that she's still alive and so is the doctor and Ho-Ran (hallucination girl). I think they did so to set up for a second season if this reaches success.

I really do like the cast for this drama and the original Manhwa. I even trust and enjoy some of the previous works of the screenwriter and directors for this. However, the more I think about this drama the more I become concerned. The story has so much going on, what are they going to do with only 10 episodes? Even if they only competed the first season, that's still a lot.

I haven't completed it yet, but I will let you know when I do. Though i can tell you right now from the visuals and director style of the first episode, it does not seem like a very high budget drama. I see you have watched Back from the Brink so i would say it is comparable to that.

I am considering picking back up season 1 and then going through 2 so I can watch this season lol. But why is it that s1 and s2 have 14 episodes and this one only has 8? For the finale season and her endgame romance it seems weird. Is just because this part of the story is shorter in the webtoon?

That makes sense. I have been up to date in newer dramas and I just started the first episode and immediately understand based on the vibe alone why the rating isn't very high haha. But everything is subjective with entertainment so I'm going to continue watching before giving my own rating.

I used to think that when I first joined lol. Which is why I held back on watching this despite it being on my list before it even aired, but after throwing caution to the wind and watching a drama below 8.0 I realized I cannot always trust these ratings or even reviews lmao, especially the exceedingly harsh ones.

Half way through and I'm really feeling like this should be a classic 16 episode drama. There's so much room for more exploration! And it'd give us more time for our ship to be an official couple.

At some points of this drama, specifically the blood feud between Li sect and the six sects and how they treated ML, I was getting Love and Redemption flashbacks. But Mu Qingyan is very much unlike Si Feng lol
