China has restricted Boys' Love (BL) content due to concerns over capitalist exploitation of youth-driven trends,…
China’s restrictions on BL content, justified as curbing "capitalist exploitation" and "unhealthy trends," conveniently sidestep the real issues. Labeling themes tied to homosexuality as a "disease" or moral failing aligns with the state’s push for traditional norms, yet it’s a flimsy pretext. When shows like The Untamed must to dodge bans by cloaking romance in "platonic" terms, that reveal the government’s obsession with controlling cultural narratives over fostering genuine social good. Meanwhile, China ignores rampant labor exploitation in factories, where workers are crushed under profit-driven systems—far more "unhealthy" than any fictional romance. This hypocrisy exposes the selective morality: demonizing marginalized identities like homosexuality as a scapegoat while systemic abuses go unchecked. It’s not about protecting people, but controlling narratives to enforce state-approved ideology. Don’t you think?
For real, does the Chinese government actually think watching BL series can turn a straight person gay? So, what, watching straight rom-coms would make me straight? Man, I wish that kind of miracle could happen so I wouldn’t have to deal with all the crap from these bigoted idiots! Like it’s a choice! Yeah, sure, I totally picked being discriminated against my whole life!
hes crazy.... crazy disrespectful lmao like i dont get it, you get into a bl drama, then avoid nearly any kind…
It's okay that he doesn't like intimate contact with other men but then why the hell would he accept a role in a BL series? After years of studying and meeting people from Korea, I have come to many conclusions and one of them is that there are many Korean men who are closeted. The pressure in society is so great that they live their own lie and develop a certain hatred for what they are, of course they cannot let others know that they are like that. They live by appearances, and tend to be quite cold when you really get to know them.
I had high expectations with this drama but they were not satisfied. Anyway, it's not a bad drama and I can give you a reason more than enough to watch it and that reason is called Poom (Joe). He's not just a pretty face, Poom is really a good actor, I loved it! With some changes the plot could have been much better. Ming is a clear example of a red flag, a toxic person and although in the end he seems to have changed, we know the cost of that change... And in the real life we all know that a second chance for such a horrible behavior would be impossible! The consequence of this toxic behavior would be irreversible. So please we must not accept this kind of attitude, we must listen to people like Sol. Our life is too short to waste it with people like Ming.
This drama made me think about so many things. The suffering of so many people throughout history who were forced to live a life they didn't want. The brevity of our lives. How we should enjoy every moment with the person we love. At some points I found myself remembering the song "Beyond the Universe." I loved it.
