The amnesia father story is absolutely ridiculous and anti-scientific. So the series is laughable in a different sense, too.

Yes, it is not a BL, but it does not matter much in this case. There is a reason why BL dramas are not called BL sitcoms. People do not watch BL dramas for comedy, hence it is never a thing there except for occasional funny moments which are meant to be more cute than funny. So the choice to not make this a BL thing is CORRECT. Also because eight episodes is not enough to develop so many BL relationships to begin with.

SORRY, but this series is so funny.I barely even smile when watching comedies, but here I LOLed a whole lot of times.

Bad Buddy series is nearly UNIQUE for bringing up lesbians, which otherwise are all but non-existent as per the rules of the BL genre.

Bad Buddy is not the first BL series where parents are clueless about their sons openly dating lads, but every time it is not quite believable as they would know from all of the social media of university students, pals, friends, etc. They are not living in the jungle.

The Thai police is not that incompetent, it checks for surveillance cameras footage. Also, the majority of the fingerprints on the gun certainly were from the evil lad, including on the key parts that indicate that he was holding the gun. The good lad was only grasping the evil lad’s hand around during the fight.

Unlike how things go with schools, parents can not transfer their children from a university to university.

A NON-spoiler mistake in the plot:Lads are not doing the whole platonic celibacy relationship things, they are the most opposite of that. And it is not because they would not want to, but because they can not. Even if they do not have a relationship, simply having interest is already results in them having fun with each other as often as possible. Let alone the situation when they do have feelings for each other. The drive is absolutely unstoppable, it is imperative. This can never be just flirting. And they would do it clandestinely, if they have to, just fine.

Agree, though there is ONE unrealistic thing in the series:

Started to watch the series.

The name should have been Twink Wars or something. Those fights are so funny.

In real life version of the story Kai never grows any romantic feelings for Third. This is what happens most of the time. But then the series would be devastating to watch, dangerous unhealthy.

But I am not sure what you mean by “rushed” discovery of the love by Kai. He was made to spend a few episodes on that, on uncertainty and doubt. Though he has started to act upon his feelings before fully accepting them due to his dramatically different character nature versus Third, who was hesitant to act even after years of desperate love.

There are no reasons why people fall in love with each other. Love does not need explanations as it does not have any in the first place. However we can explain it to ourselves or to others, it all is a backwards mental construct, where we try to rationalise the unrationaliseable.

Ultimately, it is understandable why the series is so polarising. It is quite unconventional and uncomfortable in more ways than one.

You rated the story the lowest. But is not the story’s setting realistic, rather? There are certainly real people like Third who are masachistic, bound by their unrequited love, and there are people like Kai who are womanisers and emotionally dunces so they would not pick up others’ feelings at all.

The only questionable large scale thing in the story is that it all got resolved in a happy ending. In reality, it rarely ends up like that. But then the series would have become so depressing that viewers could have been only allowed to watch it while connected to a support line.

Indeed. There are no reasons why people love each other. This emotion is biologically irrational because it nests in a deep, ancient part of the brain, not in some frontal lobe that is responsible for anything that can make sense. Only later we can try rationalise our love, but it all will be made up.


OTHERWISE, the review is on point. The show had characters that are uniquely real, except for the BL drama fantasy rule that a person in his 20s can all of a sudden become bisexual for the first time, which is impossible as it can only happen no later than by puberty.

I see that you did not watch Stay With Me (a new, softer version of Addicted) Chinese BL drama from 2023 (filmed in 2021). It is written by the same controversial Chinese novelist who wrote Revenged Love. You might like it, too. Some of the songs are just superb. The actors are cute. And it was a unique production because the drama is “historical” as it recreates the setting from the late 1990s and the middle of 2000s.

FINALLY, they should not have dressed Gun in baggy clothes. He is just 168 cm tall, but lean, and he even had a six pack, which was a sin to not use. The baggy wide clothes make him worse than how he actually looks.

The cliche out of nowhere crash incident has several things wrong with it. Yes, it is too convenient for the storytelling. Then the zombie walking and talking. The shaking of the body by Third and dragging it to a back seat of a regular car are horrible medical advice. Call the ambulance. Then, people do no sleep for days just because they got some traumas. Coma or an induced coma is a different thing. Patients do not get released the next day.
