He's very famous but I don't think that was the reason, In any case, he's still such a sexy guy...
It's not about whether he's attractive enough to play the part it's more about how I find it weird that a man in his 40s is playing opposite an actor that's 22/23 years old.

Crime is not black and white. Are you going to judge someone as harshly for armed robbery as you are for jaywalking?…
Mental health isn't really talked about in South Korea and the entertainment industry is very toxic to celebrities. I mean on one hand he could just be doing drugs and thinking he's above the law which isn't okay, but he could also be struggling and need help... I just don't know the whole story so I'd rather not judge.

I don't disagree that mandatory recovery programs probably help a lot of people who didn't understand they had a problem and would never seek help otherwise. I think I just find it hard to bridge the gap between how the US handles issues like this and SK does. A lot of SKs law abiding tactics just seem wrapped in group shame and ostracization. Hopefully most of the publicity dies down by the time of release.

Just because something is the law doesn't necessarily mean it's fair or just. And alcohol's a drug and constantly abused but SK is fine with that. Personally, I just honestly think vilifying drug use makes it super hard to feel safe to seek help.

It's insane how tolerant Korea is of alcohol (which is definitely a drug) but so critical of literally anything else. It's totally fine to open carry liqour, normal to feel pressured to drink with your boss or colleagues, etc. But then they refuse to provide any pain meds that could even potentially be addictive for surgeries/procedures/injuries and have ridiculously severe stances on being caught with weed or propofol a... sedative? I'll never understand.

I think netflix should take this as a way to make a good campaign for the SK community. Like say encourage people…
Alcohol is a drug and heavily tolerated in SK. People are legalizing certain drugs in plenty of places and for medical reasons so it's kind of crazy countries like Korea, China, Russia, etc stigmatize one and not the other when there isn't much difference.

The 20 year age gap between the actors in this is quite unappealing. They really couldn't have cast a male lead in his 20/30s? Or is it just because of Jerry Yangs notoriety? I mean he was popular when I was in middle school. It's weird.

I don't think that would have mattered in all honestly. People seem desensitized to it when they watch j/kdramas.
It IS cringy. What could you remotely have in common with a teenager? I got second lead syndrome immediately lol

Well mostly because her disguising herself was the premise for the whole plot so everyone knew about it right off the bat. Questionable plots like that come up in a lot of Asian dramas (though I do think it's slowly getting better) so people are fairly desensitized to it.

I totally agree. It's so boring to have every story centered around the "fat girl" finding her self worth in the end instead of love. But she did like him for pretty superficial reasons which isn't much better then everyone judging her so I don't know if them being together would be that great either. Should have had a different guy show genuine interest in her.

Is no one going to point out how Karasuma basically coerced her into agreeing to sleep with him as a way to 'show her how she really felt' and that she was ashamed her actions had pushed a good guy to do such a horrible thing?

19 IS practically a child. There are high schoolers in the US who graduate at 19 years old. You live with your parents and have no life experience at that age. As for triggering self harm in children... what in the world??? As someone who grew up in a pretty unhealthy/toxic household I know exactly what triggers children. Adults in your life who don't look out for your wellbeing/happiness. Parents divorce, get angry and stressed, make mistakes, fight with their coworkers/partners/friends. They're human. They're allowed to mess up. It is however their responsibility not to involve their children in those issues and create safe environments for them where they know they're loved. That is again, on Higashide. He's the parent here. Both parents are pretty well off there's no reason they shouldn't be capable of making sure their children know they care about them. Their children are 5 and younger though so unless they're fighting in front of them the divorce shouldn't effect them much at all.

O.o Maybe actually read what people say...? Pretty sure I explained that my problem is married men not staying faithful to their wives and then having no consequences for it... Never said anything about her deserving anything because this wasn't about her. I said there's a pattern of MEN disrespecting their wives that needs to change. Wow.

Anne Watanabe's own father got divorced in 2018 after admitting he was having an affair (after the media blasted him for rumors that he was). He's also been divorced once before (he married his ex-wife months after officially divorcing his first one too so...). And he's dating the women he was cheating on his latest ex-wife with. If you looked into his scandals you might find they're worse than Higashides tbh. Almost like married men who can't stay faithful are the problem or something, crazy.
