But he got XL stabbed with Soul gnawing wedge which is like a slow poison. I'm not sure if he had any alternative cure for it.

Actually, LSS considered not going through nails route after the festival. She was ready to tell everything to TTJ and maybe wanted to figure out some other way to extract his bone.

Anyway, we missed the most important culprit which is WAJ. Tragedy was always in their books one way or the other.
