I agree with a lot of what you wrote, and let's face it, all these dramas are like that, so no surprises there. But in this drama world, I think it has as much to do with social standing and wealth as it has to do with with gender. That's why the rich SFL is a twisted mirror image of our FL. The Shengyi hating needs to be toned down a little. Even today with all the support and feminism, most abused women go back to their abusers. So just imagine a world with no social services, and a time when women thought of themselves as inferior from day one. Sometimes the world is a terrible place and our dramas reflect that.

That's not how this world works. This drama clearly has a message about flawed people and the bad things they go through, it's not romanticising assault.
