I think they need permission from their government to even sell it to other countries... Nothing you create in China is ever truly yours, it all belongs to the Chinese government and they don't want the word to see than they have gay people.

No one can be Wang Kai so we need to be more forgiving. For me it's more about the writing approach that's so different.

That was my biggest fear from the trailer. I'll still give this one a chance tomorrow but I'm not holding my breath.
What I loved about the Chinese version was how serious, smart and awkward she was. I loved it when he said she was like a monster from another planet. If they make her funny and cool it might be interesting to watch but it won't be When A Snail Falls In Love.

Thailand loves quirky and sweet FLs and they love adding teenage level humour, so I hope that maybe someday there will be a Japanese version - Now THAT will be interesting because they are the best at delivering weird but lovable outcasts.
