complete story :

Lin Xiao Shao (played by Guo Yu Xin) is a simple, obedient young woman who has never truly known love or belonging. Orphaned at a young age, she was adopted into a family that only saw her as an asset to be used. Unlike her brother, she was never treated with warmth or respect. Instead, she was groomed to be sold off in the marriage market to the highest bidder. Her marriage to Fu Yuchuan (played by Wang Kai Mu) is nothing more than a business transaction orchestrated by her adoptive family. Fu Yuchuan, on the other hand, is the illegitimate child of a powerful business family. Despite the odds, he has carved a name for himself in the business world through sheer talent and hard work. His success, however, has only made him the target of envy and hatred from his own family.Unable to harm Fu Yuchuan directly, his family turns their frustration toward Lin Xiao Shao, subjecting her to cruel treatment under the guise of family rules and traditions. Yuchuan, unaware of their actions, wrongly assumes that Xiao Shao was planted by his family to spy on him. This misunderstanding causes him to stay emotionally distant and indifferent toward her.Xiao Shao, caught between a loveless family, hostile in-laws, and a cold husband, leads a life devoid of affection and happiness. Her world turns upside down when she is diagnosed with a terminal illness. This revelation becomes a turning point for her. She undergoes a complete transformation no longer the submissive girl everyone could push around, she begins to live for herself. Her newfound strength and cold detachment unexpectedly attract Yuchuan’s attention. As she begins to assert herself and withdraw from everyone, including him, he starts to see her in a new light. Slowly, the distance between them shortens, and their relationship begins to evolve. Despite the improvement, Xiao Shao chooses to divorce Yuchuan, not wanting to burden him or be dragged along in a loveless bond. It’s only after this that Yuchuan discovers the truth about her illness. Heartbroken and desperate, he secretly donates bone marrow to her, never revealing his identity as the donor.Eventually, it is Yuchuan’s close friend who reveals the truth to Xiao Shao, making her realize the depth of Yuchuan’s love and sacrifice. Moved and overwhelmed, she returns to him. In the end, the two find their way back to each other not as strangers in a business deal, but as soulmates who have endured pain, misunderstanding, and transformation.

My Take:

The tone of the drama seems to evolve in three distinct phases-first/ third, everything feels cold and emotionally distant. second /third, characters begin to soften. final /third, everyone has completely melted emotionally. This shift in tone was evident, but I found the transitions between these phases a bit jarring. The tonal changes didn’t flow smoothly, making it feel like the drama was divided into disconnected chunks. If you watch each part separately, they’re good in their own right. But if you watch it all at once, something feels off as if the parts don’t blend into a cohesive whole. For example, the drama begins on a strong note where the female lead decides she won't care about anyone anymore and will live the rest of her life for herself. However, this idea quickly becomes contradictory. Despite being ignored by her husband for years, she suddenly becomes soft toward him just because of a single gesture. That shift didn’t sit well with me. It would’ve made more sense if the FL had taken more time to accept the ML emotionally. As they say, "They plan was to go to London, but somehow we ended up in Indonesia." That’s how the drama felt starting with one direction but taking an entirely different route. Some aspects felt missing or left unexplained .

What I did like about the drama:

1. Even though the ML ignored the FL, he was never cruel to her.
2. I cried a lot from the moment the FL divorced the ML and left, right up until the end it was emotionally impactful.
3. Although the story didn’t maintain the tone it began with, the couple's moments were touching and beautiful.

Overall, it’s a good drama if you can overlook the abrupt rhythm and enjoy it for its emotional beats and character moments.
