I feel like Jae Woo was somehow manipulated/exploited. Young Joo was liking the assistant; now she is into Jae…
It's creepy and weird. Jae Woo may have Asperger's but, unlike many Asperger's sufferers who are mature adults who just have problems relating to people socially, his mental age and maturity is also that of a child. Very disturbing twist.

Recently I have only watched one drama that was pure fun (and not lacking in logic either)- Love to hate You...…
Love to Hate You and Crazy Love. Two superbly written (and hilarious) dramas, with tight writing all the way through, and fabulous characters.

I've waffled over the murder plot, first I hated it, then it made sense since we're talking about the extremes…
The characters are brilliant, but the writing and the plot just fell apart from about the middle of Episode 14 and collapsed completely in Episode 15. I can only imagine the actors reading that script and thinking "What the HELL????" :)

Crazy Love, which is similar to this, was tight from start to finish, with that show's screenwriter doing a phenomenal job tying all the loose ends up. Crash Course, on the other hand, has all the signs of a writer who just ran out of steam and didn't know what to do to fill the final two episodes. So she finished up the murder plot quickly and moved onto filler side stories that make no sense at all.

A shame as I loved this so much until today. Now... just disappointed it's ending this poorly.

The first half of ep 15 was so bad I couldn't watch 💀 The murder mystery plot could've been something great.…
Top 3 for me until today. Now it's sunk to me feeling so sorry for the actors having to act in that steaming pile of garbage that is Episode 15 :)

And... the screenwriter just destroyed the entire show. Good Lord, how do you go from 13 1/2 superbly written episodes to a pile of steaming garbage with Episode 15?

How is it possible to write something that bad after writing something so good for so long?

I feel sorry for poor Jung Kyung Ho, Jeon Do Yeon and the rest having to act in that episode, as what an absolute dumpster fire.

period queen! tune in to Jack o’Frost for a palate cleanser from these lame kbls 🤗
Agreed. And you're correct, even without much money there are a helluva lot of YouTubers that do a better job than the production team on most Korean BL dramas :)

On All the Liquors, the acting is awful, but they are both novice actors so hopefully they will improve.

Problem too is most actors on Korean BL dramas are relatively new in the field, and are accepting BL roles I'm guessing more established actors don't want (which is a shame as, with a well-written script, they could help create a superb production).

That's why the acting is lacking in so many of them.

Meanwhile, most Japanese BL dramas star very well established, well-respected actors who seem to be more than happy to take a BL part as, I think, many of them know they are a fun challenge and that millions of fans love them.

Then again, Japan is ahead of Korea on a lot of social issues, especially with gay issues (although neither are as progressive as most western countries obviously), and it shows in their dramas, IMO.

Hey, actually Jack O'Frost is NOT based on one of my favorite manga (hahahaha), as I've just realized now I'm 2 episodes in. Very similar plot, but different in how the amnesia situation is dealt with.

And yep, just watched the first 2 episodes and it's excellent. Superb casting and acting, very mellow in that way only the Japanese seem to be able to manage when they do BL, and with lovely cinematography.

I think this will go on my list of Best BLs, along with Old Fashion Cupcake, Cherry Magic!, The Novelist and the movie The Cornered Mouse Dreams of Cheese. All Japanese, and with a similar feel to Jack O'Frost, IMO, just in case you haven't seen them.

And as far as Korean vs Japanese BL go, I think the difference is the Japanese are spending money on them and the Koreans are not (yet). You see it in the full episodes of the Japanese BL vs the 10-12 minutes of the Korean ones, plus the production value on most Japanese BL is superb.

I do think that will change, though, as more Korean BL becomes popular. There will be more money available, and better productions because of it.

Plus, a lot of the Korean webtoons have massive amounts of sex scenes (which I find very boring after a while, as they're all the same, with characters even saying the same things during sex), so when you take all the sex out, there isn't always a lot left of the plot :)

Japanese BL manga though often has much more complicated, more interesting stories (even if there are sex scenes too), so even without the incredibly pornographic sex scenes, there is still an interesting and often touching story.

Anyway, really enjoying Jack O'Frost so far. Thanks a lot for the recommendation :) Might have missed it otherwise.

Why watch a romcom if you dislike romance? It‘s like saying you don‘t like football, but then you go off to…
Hahahaha, sorry, not meaing to laugh at Jack, but your post is hilarious. "The tags are your friend" :) Thanks for the laugh.

And I do see complaints about dramas all the time on here though and, like you, think "What the hell, the description/tags literally say that's what it's going to be".

Same for Crash Course in Romance, which is brilliant. Lots of people complaining about the murder aspect of the story, when a murder is literally in the first 5 minutes of the first episode, and the first tags are 'Thriller' and 'Mystery'. :)

Wow, I missed this one. Thanks for the heads up. Will start watching later today. That looks fabulous.

EDIT: Just read the plot properly and realized Jack O'Frost is based on one of my favorite BL mangas (read it about 4 times!). Now I'm really looking forward to seeing the drama.

I haven't watched a Japanese BL drama yet based on a manga I've read that I haven't loved. Whereas EVERY Korean BL based on one of my favorite webtoons has been appalling :)

These are low budget ENA dramas they are just filling slots.
Yep, it's not remotely low budget. He/she obviously just hasn't watched it. Production values are high, the actors are some of Korea's most successful (ie: highly paid), cinematography is beautifully done, and the special effects are superb. Scripts are extremely well-written too, and pretty damned hilarious.

Like I said, ENA announced a while ago that their goal is to be one of the top networks for dramas, so they are pumping massive amounts of money into that mission.

It's why all their most recent dramas have been so well-received (Extraordinary Attorney Woo, The Good Detective, Gaus Electronics, Strangers Again etc). They've spent a lot of money on them.

Honestly, the only drama they have produced recently that wasn't one of the best was Love is for Suckers, and even that wasn't low budget, and, for me at least, was enjoyable enough.

Didn't expect the acting to be that good in this, as the trailers made it look like a bit of a throw-away light comedy, but just one episode in so far for me and the acting is superb.

It's not low budget, and ENA dramas aren't low budget. They're pumping a helluva lot of money into their dramas. They have big goals for their network, and are spending the money to achieve them. And this one, by the way, is very well done. Great acting, fun plot, solid story.

Don't waste your time. I just watched the first 2 episodes on double speed, and the acting is so bad it's difficult to watch even at that speed. I won't be watching any more :)

Hard to watch as the acting is so bad. Dropped after Ep. 2. Honestly, Korean BL dramas are so disappointing. Have pretty much dropped every one I've watched recently as, sadly, the Japanese just do so much better of a job at them.

I'm now fast forwarding She Would Never Know at Ep. 10 :) Don't think I'll drop it, but it's become pretty boring. Plus the chemistry between the main pair is lacking and, honestly, I don't really care about any of the minor characters much either :) I definitely see why you dropped it.

Oh and Rowoon is doing nothing for me in this. Looks like a girl. Especially with all the make up and lip gloss they have him wearing in every scene. :)

Yep. And Jung Kyung Ho is deceptive, in that he often seems a bit lightweight in the acting department just because he is so good at it, it's almost effortless for him. Scenes like that, though, show his true capability. Beautifully done.

Title Crash Course in Romance Spoiler
I rewatched it too but I still don’t get why Dong Hui shot up the side dish spot WITH his beloved sam inside.
Because he was angry that Nam Haeng Seon was pushing Choi Chi Yeol around (she was angry about Choi Chi Yeol lying to her about why he gave her the phone, he tries to leave and she pulls him back into the shop so she can give him the phone back). Dong Hee is outside, sees CCY being shoved around and fires into the shop.

But notice... unlike every other time he fires a ball and easily hits someone, in the case of the shop shooting, he didn't hit anyone.

That's because, if he had tried to hit Nam Haeng Seon, he might have hit CCY.

So, he just fired the ball to stop her pulling CCY around, without any intention of hitting anyone.

I admit, I too had to watch it through 3 times to figure out why he shot into the shop. Then it suddenly occurred to me why :)
