It’s awesome! Riveted from the start and 14 was amazingly done. That damn pen!!! Brilliant. So much good stuff…
I do, but very spottily. In that, there are hundreds of dramas I've seen over the years that I need to add to it, and quite a few from this season and last year that I also need to add (either completed or mid-way through).
Plus I think, as a writer, I am very forgiving of other writers as I know how bloody difficult it can be to get something to come out the way you hear it and see it in your head. So, some of the things I give high marks to simply because I can see the huge effort involved in creating it, others will likely hate :)
And a couple I have absolutely detested (The New Employee, for instance) others have adored, while I have struggled not to put my fist through the screen :)
In other words, don't go off what I like or what I grade as high, as my reasons for doing so may be weird to you :)
And do you like Mr. Queen? Just added it to my To Watch list, although I'm not a big historical drama fan usually.

I really like it. Not at the absolute top of my list, but a decent, interesting story, good chemistry between the ML and FL, and very well acted by everyone down to the smallest parts. It's definitely keeping me entertained, and I'm looking forward to Ep. 10 later tonight :)

I think the writers are the be all and end all of a good drama. Think about it. The best actor in the world can't resurrect a badly-written script, as we have all seen over and over again (cough cough - Now We Are Breaking Up :) )
What other romcom are you watching now? I’m also putting this on hold, difficult for me to invest with the characters…
I love both. Binge-watched Love to Hate You last week -- thought the FL was fabulous and her chemistry with the ML really believable. Hilarously funny, so well acted and beautifully written too.
It's funny isn't it how people's tastes differ so much? I've had friends who enjoy shows I like and then recommend something that makes me want to throw my laptop out the window :)
Case in point, Voice. I'm in the midst of a 3-part article on Kim Jae Uck -- finished the first 2 parts a couple of months ago -- and want to be able to finish Voice before I write part 3. I still have 5 episodes to go, and I hate that drama so much the thought of watching six more hours makes me want to punch myself repeatedly in the face :)
His performance is superb but, Ye Gods, I hate that thing!!! :)

I actually just watched the first episode last week, but am finishing up She Would Never Know, then plan to hit the rest of WLF in a binge-fest later in the week :) Thanks for the encouragement :)
Yep. As a writer myself, I know how hellishly difficult it is to tie up loose ends in a natural way that's believable,…
Oh it's soooo good. Complete it :)
I watched it 3 times through back-to-back, the third time all 16 episodes on a flight back from the U.S. to Europe (got me through the flight plus a layover in Switzerland and a taxi ride back to my apartment in Vienna - finished the last episode 10 minutes before I hit my front door :). And it held up in excellence all three times, with Kim Jae Uck's performance in it one of the best I've seen in any K-drama.
Still haven't found a drama I've enjoyed as much, although Crash Course is coming up a close second. Who knows, if the last two episodes knock it out of the park, it may just bump Crazy Love off its top spot in my heart :)

Hahaha, good. I'm just so disappointed when people say they don't like this, or that the murder was "unnecessary". I'm a journalist, primarily entertainment/music etc., and write a lot about K-dramas, which means I also watch a helluva lot of them and this is easily one of the best-written I've seen in a long time (since last year's Crazy Love, IMO).
I'm just so happy when people love it, or change their minds about it because, the screenwriter is so damned talented, she really deserves people to love this drama. :)
Just wanted to say, if you really want to see just HOW well written Crash Course in Romance is, rewatch the entire thing. I rewatched all first 13 episodes through this week, and it's amazing the level of detail Yang Hee Seung (the screenwriter) has included in every episode right from the first. Things that I missed, or that seemed unimportant, until you see them again once you know what happens later on.
I plan on watching it through a 3rd time once all the episodes are out, as the writing level in this is on fire.

It's not an unnecessary plot though, it's the actual plot. I mean anyone who saw the first few scenes of the first episode with a kid being killed knew this wasn't a rom-com. Not ragging on you at all :), I'm just surprised so many people thought this was a rom-com when, from the first 10 minutes of Ep. 1, it was obvious it wasn't.
Personally, I love the mix, as 16 episodes of Choi Chi Yeol and Nam Haeng Seon in an on again/off again relationship would have been a typical K-drama story, and there are already thousands of them.
It's deliberate, IMO. The plot is so damned tight now, and there is so much going on, even a 15 second preview could spoil the suspense and the surprises, IMO. They're making damn sure audiences tune in for the last two episodes, so they're not giving any hints as to what we can expect :)
It's also because the plot is so tight now, and there will be so much drama in at least the next episode if not the last two, even 15 seconds of it could spoil the suspense and surprise they want viewers to experience. I'm actually happy there wasn't a preview, as it will just make the final two episodes even more cool :)
As useless and annoying murder plots in romcoms are towards the end just to fill time slots, this one did tie…
Yep. As a writer myself, I know how hellishly difficult it is to tie up loose ends in a natural way that's believable, and that's in projects that are nowhere near as complicated as the plot of this one. Yang Hee Seung has done a superb job. Not only of starting to tie up all the plot points, but doing it a few episodes out rather than doing it in a rush right at the end, as many other K-drama screenwriters have a habit of doing. Easy to see why she is as successful as she is, and why her dramas are often hits.
Could someone do me a favor and spoil me if ep 14 ends in a giant cliffhanger? I'm torn between watching the latest…
No, not a cliffhanger, but a helluva lot goes on :) I'd say, if you hate to wait (and I admit, I definitely do), just wait until next Sunday and watch all 3 last episodes together, as the drama has literally become fire :)
I'm guessing his apology wasn't sincere and he did as part of some plan to get back at CCY.
My guess is he will try to set Choi Chi Yeol up for the murders. Not realizing the police have already ruled him out due to the lack of callouses on his finger :)
The pacing was a bit off in ep 12 but I did enjoy the murder mystery a lot more in these two episodes. It's done…
Pacing on Episode 14 was superb. Easy to see why screenwriter Yang Hee Seung's dramas tend to be hits. She does an incredible job setting up a story and then starting to pull it all together in a very believable way. Fascinated to see what she has done with the final two episodes.
Holy sheeeeet, Episode 14 was beautifully written. So many loose ends starting to be wrapped up, and so many terrible people starting to get what they deserve. Easily the best drama of 2023 so far, and I'm now very interested to see what screenwriter Yang Hee Seung does in the last two episodes. Freaking love this!!
