PLEASE put your comments as a Spoiler if they give hints to the plot. It's infuriating to have half the plot be told before half of us get to that episode. Come on, guys, it's not rocket science.
See. You learn something every day -- hahahahaha. I know. I was just as blown away when I found out as well :)…
Ah, then 3 more years or so before she can do what she wants (well depending on what country she's in) :)
My parents were relatively strict and so, in this day and age, would probably have banned me from some things online as well. Funny though, when you get older, you realize your parents were generally correct about everything they told you not to do :) (Mine were/are amazing, btw :)

Just sign up for it. You don't have to pay.
I don't, and I listen to Spotify all day every day, I'm just fine with listening to the ads so I can get it free -- which is a horrible confession as I've been a music journalist for 2 decades so should be supporting musicians -- hahahaha, I tell all my musician friends "my precious time spent listening to ads is supporting your songs" :) (I just have too many subscriptions already!)
It's a narrative technique called puzzle-box or breadcrumbing used to keep suspense high, to make a viewer (or…
I knew it was a specific narrative technique, but didn't know it was called puzzle-box or breadcrumbing. Thanks for that explanation :) And yes, like you said, it is perfect for this drama and its character's and plot.
If the singer sounds like a woman with a soprano voice, it's usually Zhou Shen :)I only realized recently that…
Hahaha, yep, that video is fabulous too, as ALL the judges are like "What the hell? That voice belongs to a DUDE!!"
I thought one of my favorite ever Chinese singers was a woman for at least a year, until I found out "Nope" :) (Love him even more now)
It really is a good rule of thumb though as, I've found, in almost all cases, if a drama theme song of the last four or five years sounds like a woman with a somewhat soprano voice, it's almost ALWAYS Zhou Shen.
Him and Liu Yu Ning are now the drama theme song gods :)
Who sings the opening song? I wonder if it’s Bai Lu?
If the singer sounds like a woman with a soprano voice, it's usually Zhou Shen :)
I only realized recently that three of my favorite Cdrama theme songs, which I always used to think about them "that woman has a gorgeous voice" were actually by Zhou Shen. :) He's amazing.
And I'll put this link up again for those who haven't seen it -- Zhou Shen's audition for The Voice of China -- he was pressganged into doing the audition by one of the producers, who tried to persuade him for 2 years to be on the show, but he kept turning her down because he thought people would laugh at him because of his voice.
Turned out no, and now he's one of China's biggest stars :)
The judge who first sits up straight when Zhou Shen starts to sing, btw, is the brother of the woman who first sung the song and made it into a massive hit.
Episode 11 he's not though. He's angry (maybe you didn't get there yet?). And I don't think anyone should be mad.…
Hahaha, I'm glad :) I just really love this one, the way the secrets get explained slowly every episode, like peeling layers of an onion, and how Ye Li and Mo Xiu Yao are slowly becoming closer. In just a few episodes they've gone from him telling her "You can leave any time you want" to him kissing her forehead as she falls asleep.
It's a brilliant slow burn and I think it's only going to get better from here :)
There is a lot of backstory about Yeli and Lishan mountain and how is MXY related to it, we are 11 episodes in…
I think it's very well done though. The screenwriter has dripped it out slowly enough that it keeps the viewer incredibly interested, as we learn something new every episode. Layer upon layer upon layer are slowly being peeled away :)
Not surprised, though, as the screenwriter, Xiao Xiang Dong Er (who I think is one of China's best), wrote The Demon Hunter's Romance quite similarly. Kept me interested in that one the whole way thru as well. She knows how to tell a good story.

He'll get there. :) And he was worried earlier as well. He was at the temple staring at the painting while she was missing, and you could tell how upset he was. He was even more upset when she ran away to lure the bandits away from him, and he couldn't help her because he can't walk.
Don't forget, he's a cripple and he knows he's almost useless to her right now. HIs family has been crushed by the Empress, so he doesn't have that much social power, and he has no physical power as he can't walk. So he can't properly protect her.
Because of this, in some respects, he doesn't feel like he deserves her. Especially as she saved him when she was just a child, and is still saving him now, even though he doesn't always let her :)
She does all the work, and he just sits there and watches her as that's about all he can do. As a man, that must absolutely kill him, as almost every man on the planet wants to protect the woman they love.
Wait till he gets on his feet though, and I have a feeling he will be amazing :)
I won't get tired of saying how great Bailu is. This is probably one of her best drama. The more episode you watch…
She's superb in this.
And I'm not a fan (ie: I don't tend to become "fans" of any actor/actress, I'm waaaaaaay too old for that :) - I just appreciate them if they're good actors), but I'm just struck by how utterly beautiful she is. She has the perfect facial structure. It's hard not to keep stopping frames just to gaze at how gorgeous she is :)

He has a slew of gorgeous songs (theme songs and otherwise) on Spotify/YouTube Music as well -- here's his Spotify link -- https://open.spotify.com/artist/0BezPR1Hn38i8qShQKunSD?si=o3EYl_djSwOo_2XRV5g_aw
And you can tell how popular he must be in China, as he has over 860,000 monthly listeners outside China, and that's very rare for a Chinese singer.

Love that the screenwriters is dripping out the mystery episode by episode though. Really keeps you wanting to come back for more :)

And I LOVE that moment when the judges turn their chairs and realize he's a man :)
