As for TPG, I rarely drop dramas and LOVE Liu Xue Yi, but even he can't save that thing :)

Payoff in Eps29 and 30 is magnificent. Best new drama I've watched all year, with brilliant writing and even better performances from both the leads and the superb supporting cast.

You're missing something spectacular if you stop in the earlier episodes. I'm very thankful to the person who told me to "continue passed Ep 4) after I dropped it after Ep 1. I would have missed something amazing if I'd ignored her.

I loved it when the Emperor said "you've resented me". The absolute GALL to accuse him of resenting him when he had a million reasons to do so :)

She's pretty horrible to him up to about EP26 (well, horrible to one of his personas, but not to the other :), but there's a reason for it, and the PAYOFF in Eps 29 and 30 is magnificent.

Best new drama I've watched all year. You're missing a gem if you don't start watching it soon.

Chang Long has been absolutely brilliant in the part. He's not stereotypically handsome, but is so talented.

I won't watch anything on Viki or pay them for a subscription. They don't pay their subbers (just give them 'free subscriptions", so it's basically a company that uses slave labor.

Compare that to Netflix, who pay about $20 an hour for their subbers (still not a high salary, but at least they pay a liveable wage).

You're going to love Episodes 29 and 30 then :) (And no, I'm not being sarcastic).

She's fast becoming one of my favorite Chinese actresses. Brilliant in this right from the first scenes -- can't wait to free up some time so I can watch more of her previous work.

There are so many excellent supporting actors in this. Loving them as much as the leads.

Lu Xing has been in so many superb dramas. Other than one time, he's always in supporting roles, but is always one of the best actors in the drama. Love him in this.

Really annoying, isn't it? This was THE iQIYI drama I wanted to watch this season. Canceled my subscription as soon as I saw it wasn't available in Europe.

I'm now watching it on a dodgy site, as there are literally 2 ads every 4 minutes on the Linmon Pictures YouTube channel that's showing it. Tried to block with both ad blockers I run, and still getting inundated with ads.

I never mind letting a few ads run, as it supports the writer, director, actors etc, but getting more than 30 ads on a 45 minute video. Bite me!

iQIYI decided to NOT provide European subscribers with what they pay for, and Linmon decided to be greedy pushing ads. Hence -- plenty of other sites :)

It's not available on iQIYI in Europe so the teasers don't show up either. Tried to VPN in from two other countries, won't show up either.

And NO, I won't ever be paying for an iQIYI subscription again :)

Oh it's definitely the rewritten script. Something the FL has forgotten about, so she's still living her life against the old script, not realizing that disappeared the minute the screenwriter walked out of the production meeting :)

I'll agree with you on that point, although I have sensed she's been doing it a bit more reluctantly lately, as if she doesn't really believe it's a "script" and he's the "male lead" herself anymore ;)

And some of the comments on here are why MDL should stop people being able to rate a drama until it's finished.

So many people not really understanding what's going on, and either slamming the FL when having zero clue about her motivations for behaving the way she does, or slamming the writer.

There are some horribly written dramas (The Princess's Gambit). This is not one of them. Not if you take the time to actually THINK and see what's going on.
