The ml is a great actor but he keeps starring in dramas that almost always start with a BANG only to fizzled out…
I enjoyed In Blossom. Definitely saw its flaws, but he did an exceptionally good job in the role and Ju Jing Yi was a fun FL.

She fell from such a height, yet not a single bone in her body was broken not even a scratch on her face!
Whipped within an inch of her life a few hours before that too. Front of her gown striped with blood as you see where the whip cut her. A whip that cuts away flesh as it hits.

Result? A tiny scratch on her face and a bit of a boo-boo on her cheek.

There's suspending reality and I don't know what this is -- hahahahahaha.

I've given up being angry with where this is going, and am now laughing at the comedy :)

Yep. Whipped within an inch of her life, covered in blood, skin stripped off her, passes out, then an hour later…
Ah sorry, misunderstood what you meant :) Apologies.

There wasn't enough time to pass. It's literally the same day. Wouldn't have mattered if they showed a timeline -- after a whipping you wouldn't even be able to stand for several days, let alone be like she was 30 minutes later.

Title The Princess's Gambit Spoiler
She just came out of jail, injured and yet she's suddenly spending the night with the male lead?Is it really believable…
Yep. Whipped within an inch of her life, covered in blood, skin stripped off her, passes out, then an hour later she only has a couple of minor boo-boos and is in bed with the ML as if nothing ever happened.

Didn't think it was possible the writing could get worse. The "writer" just proved me wrong :)

is it another drama with bonus for actors or it is really that good?
No, it's REALLY good. Admittedly Liu Yu Ning is one of my favorite Chinese actors, and he is brilliant in this.

But it's one of the most cleverly written Chinese dramas I"ve ever watched, hilariously funny, and sad, and sweet, and crazy, and incredibly unique. With an excellent cast of supporting characters and the actors who play them.

And Li Yi Tong is an absolute gem. Epic acting skills as the FL.

Yes. I dropped it after Ep 1 then someone said, "Don't drop it until you get passed Ep 5 as it gets really good" and, boy, were they correct :)

If you have the time, persevere. It's turned out to be one of the best C-dramas I've watched all year -- and the two leads are phenomenal together as they bicker like cat and dog. Can't wait till she actually realizes she's in love with him, it's going to be fire :)

“If you keep treating this place as somewhere else then you'll never live this life well.”This statement by…
That's what I don't understand about her. She's been stuck in that world for months, but is still treating it like it's "somewhere else". A place she'll eventually leave from. She might, she might not, but she needs to start treating the world like a real place, and people like actual people and not characters in a drama.

Love her character, and Li Yi Tong is brilliant creating her, but just wish she'd be a little less self-involved all the time.

What’s up with the comments today? I’m yet to watch the the latest episodes but these comments are making…
No, both episodes are brilliant. More relaxing, poor Nan Heng isn't being abused by his father, and the relationship between the FLs sister and Shangguan He has really picked up.

Loved both episodes. Very clever and very funny, and especially funny with how delighted Nan Heng is that he can see right through everything Song Yi Meng is attempting to do (that medicine scene was hilarious -- especially his face after she stormed off :)

Just came to say the same thing. Hated EPs 1 and 2, not happy with 3, bored with 4, but it's turned into absolute brilliance. Laughed the whole way through the latest episode.

Performances are phenomenal from Liu Yu Ning and Li Yi Tong to the entire supporting cast. Even the evil Emperor is brilliantly cast.

I have only ever rewatched a handful of dramas in my life, but this is so cleverly written I'll be rewatching this again to see what I missed.

Perfect example. I mean what WAS that ending? And I haven't even finished watching the drama. Still about 8 episodes to go, but heard its original ending was different and put me right off watching the rest of it, Especially after I snuck to the last few scenes of the final episode and saw what they did with it. Ugh.

The Demon Hunter's Romance was, apparently, another one. Haven't finished that one yet either because of it :)

She just stands there, opening her eyes big and making them red. That’s all the expression she gives. The writers…
Yep, she was one of my favorite characters/actors in The Untamed too. Don't remember that blank look on her face once?

(Btw, not judging you as still stuck on about Ep 12 of The Untamed for the 2nd time. Did get up to Ep 23 at one point, but then got bored and stopped watching it for a year, so now I'm rewatching. It's one of those dramas where I can definitely SEE why people obsess over it, but it doesn't elicit that response in me as it's draggy, there are too many characters, and it should have had about 10 episodes lopped off it -- gorgeous cinematography though ).

MZY being in The Princess's Gambit was one of the reasons I was so excited for it to drop as, paired with Liu Xue Yi, I expected an epic partnership and, instead, we got... this.

And right, I'd forgotten about her whining about not getting jobs due to being pretty. I did read about that.

You'd think she'd have taken some time to read the comments all over the Internet about her acting skills, or lack thereof, before she opened her mouth, wouldn't you?

I stopped at ep 15. For those caught up, does anyone think it’s still worth watching :/
It depends. Liu Xue Yi is still carrying the drama with his usual superb understanding of his character. Meng Zi Yi seems to have lost the few acting skills she had.

As you know, the plot is poorly written from about Episode 6, but it comes and goes. Some episodes are gripping, others make you want to turn it off and never watch it again.

Episodes 16 and 17 were better than some of the preceding ones.

I'm 10 minutes into Episode 18 and those few minutes are so bad, I stopped watching. But... still wanting to soldier through when I can refrain from punching the screen.

If it disintegrates further from here though, I'm not too sure. Right now, my plan is to get through the next two episodes and see.

I would say my enjoyment of it overall is at about 70% of the time -- Liu Xue Yi is excellent, the supporting cast is superb, the cinematography is pretty, the story is interesting, and would have been epic if it was better written.

But, when my enjoyment drops below 60, I'm out. Sorry I'm not much more help than that :)

Same. I hit the Pause button at minute 9:20 and decided I had better things to do with my afternoon :)

And if she has that wide-eyed look, with slack mouth slightly open making her look like her brain took a vacation one more time, I'll be watching all her scenes on 2x speed from then on :)

She's a truly awful actress in this.

Couldn't even get passed the first 10 minutes of episode 18. The minute he bursts into the room and then she ends up in a dungeon because she refuses to tell him what's happening, I'm 1000% over the brain-dead idiot. Especially as Meng Zi Yi sits there with the same blank look she's had through 90% of the drama.

Need to take a breather before I soldier through, or I'm going to break my laptop screen :

Lost count of the Cdramas I've watched lately where the original novel had a happy ending but we got a sad one. Just don't understand why anyone would do that?

You'll like this one then :) And honestly, it's not the worst thing I've watched. Has a lot of problems, but I'll easily finish it and enjoy much of it.
