Smells lile misogyny to me.... ik the actors are good & all that, but who the hell lets these scripts into productiom…
Twitter people always trying to be chic by being inappropriate wtf... I didn't see good doctor but guess I don't need to now. Guess the character with DID/bipolar plot is more interesting yet not sure if people are doing anything to help with this cause. The ending in oh my venus was especially patronising, idk

U're kinda right. The only "disabled character" I've seen in a k-drama so far was in Just Between lovers and she was a support character like "the ugly nerd best friend of the main character" kind of situation.
But sadly, there are a lot of "drastic transformation" plot stuff out there like 200 pounds beauty movie or Oh my venus and others. Just pains me to see very little representation of plus size actresses/characters or real disabled actors playing disabled characters. But oh well... An actor playing a disabled character can just act based on speculations and researched behaviour of a disabled person, but not be one.
What are your thoughts about representation of autism in Extraordinary attorney woo & It's okay not to be okay? They kinda jungled before with mental health characters plots like Kill me, heal me or Heart to Heart etc, but the trend on making dramas abt autism is new. (You can message if you have more to say unrelated to this drama, thanks)
Message of the drama is "inner beauty matters the most, no one is ugly" but FL choose ML because of his looks…

Can't believe they actually filmed this in Romania. Just watched ep 1 and I lost it when ML started speaking Romanian. Kochenia is not a very inventive name, Mr. Writer. I kept thinking of the word "cocean" which means corn stubs lmao. Also when will the world stop associating Romania with vampires? Dracula had nothing to do with Vlad Ţepeş. He might have been a creepy psycho mass murderer but he was certainly not a vampire. Pick up a history book please.... 🙏🏻
Just finished this one. Saw someone's tweet saying : "this wlw series feels like a warm hug. i love how they include the stereotypes about women eating so much and then breaking it the next. both characters also compliment each other so much." And I couldn't agree more to this. Women are still stigmatised over the fact that they should "eat like a lady" or go on a diet to keep themselves slim and young or that they should not eat much as they will gain weight and it will make them unattractive to men.... But do you see men doing same efforts though?
Also, this quote: “My purpose for cooking is not because I want to be a great mom or a great wife. I just really love to cook so many delicious food, and have someone say that it "tastes so good".” THIS IS WHAT I AM TALKING ABT!! Why cooking is seen as a "women only activity" with the purpose of serving a family/in marriage? The world calls men "the best chefs" but women have been doing this for long way more than a random white middle aged man who swears on TV at a chunk of meat or forgets to wash his hands on screen.... Like, have some decency, will ya?
Anyway, rant over, but worth watching. The food looked so goood so better have some snacks on hand while watching this. It made me want to try to make the food they made too T T I would say 9/10, not so many romantic interactions but I think it sub-context was meaningful enough to pass on that. :)
> The Foreign Duck, the Native Duck and God in a Coin Locker (2007) - an older Japanese movie. This one was a bit confusing at first, but then all the things started to fall into place and I had an eureka moment. It is quite a bit long, but fret not, you won't regret it if you watch until the end. If you like or ever heard of Bob Dylan, it features a song of his in here which becomes the main theme of it afterwards. I love this type of little cryptic yet emotional kind of Japanese movies. Just good taste, no crumbs left.
> Do you like Brahms? (2020) - drama, 16 eps, with Park Eun Bin and Kim Min Jae. I don't usually like slow burn romance, but this one felt like it was a natural pace. The 2nd lead/love triangle interest was a bit dumb and annoying at times, but she backed off eventually and the plot went smoothly. There is a thing I usually don't see in rom-com dramas which is genuine communication of their feelings. They legit spoke their hearts out in the most polite way possible. I love Park Eun Bin lately, she is versatile but still has that feminine and delicate aura on her. If you like classical music, this will be your jam in a PJ sandwich. All the OSTs are original and so pretty that I want to listen to them daily from now on! Totally recommend watching it even if it's a bit slow at times. Have patience and you'll find a gem of a drama.
Recently watched their other movie The Foreign Duck, the Native Duck and God in a Coin Locker (2007) and I loved their acting/chemistry. Glad I found this one too. Let's see...
Just finished it and I am in my feels. Kinda gives me Normal people by Sally Rooney vibes. They kept getting back together and then off, but sapphic theme wise it felt very real. There are indeed many marriages happening like this, in the closet, never to acknowledge their true sexuality. Which is truly sad from my pov. But feel free to watch and give your own take on it. A solid 8/10 for me even though I just started to watch GLs only recently.
In all honesty, I think I had high expectations for this one. I adored the poster, love at first sight, the cast is good too. Always wanted to see more of KMJ because he is truly charismatic & genuine like Park Bogum (in terms of acting, not personality wise). I am sure he will make it big to be associated with other big names like Park Seo Joon, Hyun Bin, Song Joon Ki etc. The mystery/murder/"death of family member will bring us together" is a bit overrated and too used at this point. Especially the idea "oh, chaebols don't go to prison for their wrongdoings". In every drama with chaebol you'll see it, no doubt. The angst part is also true, it annoyed me at times so much, especially the FL's clueless reactions that I just skipped some scenes. Her silly fake laugh made me scratch my eyeballs sometimes. For real.... Other than that, the action/plot development is very very slow. It took them 7 freaking eps to start the romance part properly when it is certainly tagged as romance to begin with. That being said, half of the drama is boring. I put it on "in the bg" while eating or doing chores but it annoyed me sometimes that I didn't even pay attention to their convos. And still, the story went on fine without knowing all these useless details (like ML's family interactions). One thing I have to appreciate is that in the end they didn't break up when she had to go away. They made it look that way, but when FL stood up to the ML's father in the last ep I think, that was different than those chaebol parents who dump water/food and give money to the other side. ML's family only dissaproval was that she was adopted, she was probs richer than them, but still they got entangled in vicious ways. Overall, I gave it a 8.5/10 but now I might reconsider. Slow dramas are not for my hyperactive brain. But if you like that, go for it.
