I think there could be a plausible explanation for their balconies here. Their front doors are on opposite directions, but their balconies could be in different places in their houses. The ML's could be to the left and the FL's to the right. Making both balconies face the same place outside. Unless it was shown that the balconies were in a straight line direction with the front door.

At this point, I don't know what else to say about the mother. I don't want to judge her hastily this time, because I believe she doesn't know the entire story but she should at least give her son the benefit of the doubt.
