I'm on ep 11, the mother really doesn't know when to give up. I know she cares about her daughter and her wellbeing but the issue wouldn't have escalated if she had just stayed still. He has proven to her how much he loves her, the rest doesn't matter. She had a lot of chances to come clean but she chose to keep the charade.
