They also have a tendency to make something happen and then explain it later. It drags the pace. I like the dad…
Since it's cdrama, we could never expect a happy ending.
Nonetheless....I want a more father and daughter mischief before things fall apart. So far, it's a boring plotline...I don't care for pretty clothes...
I understand her. She wants to protect and help her brother to revive the glory of their clan using her future…
Her character is the most interesting by far in my opinion. Despite her pretense of innocence's, she was far beyond years of experience by any other characters in the story.
Yes! I thought they were lovers when they first appear on screen. Now I'm half suspecting that they are not biological…
That's the problem, when the ML and the FL are the least interesting character in the show, I ff all their scenes to get to all the side characters because they were that boring.
I was hoping for more father and daughter causing mischief in the big city, but instead they got separated and it becomes draggy with no end in sight.
The original bond between the daughter and her doting father was what I found refreshing, but now it's just boring with the FL dressing up in prettier clothes and being naive. She almost killed her father by putting him back in the hands of the same guy who pushed him off the ship....I love plotwist, but not when common sense was thrown out the window.
In the meantime, the Yin Sibling is stealing the show with their complex dynamic of willing to sacrifice everything for the others happiness.
Nonetheless, the Hot Daddy is receiving attention from all the pretty ladies...LOL
What else can the writers do if not destroy Hunian's character development? And yes they should not be hire ever…
At the later point there are no guys left to like her...and no she's not Mary Sue, since other Mary Sue actually have good reasons why men falls in love with them. Yanyan, not so much. LOL
What else can the writers do if not destroy Hunian's character development? And yes they should not be hire ever…
These days most historical dramas perspectives are taking the modern route rather than following history. This is why perfect characters are overused and redundant. Novels are just better.
Just watched the final episode. I have to say these writers should never get another job, they did such a disservice…
What else can the writers do if not destroy Hunian's character development? And yes they should not be hire ever again for destroying the author's original's works -- deviating from the novel and history in order to make Yanyan and Deyang the perfect couple in the end.
Hunian was indeed killed because Yanyan was afraid of her elder sister. The influence Hunian yields at the time was that powerful. Queen level, thus why she has to die.
She should have died in the drama, to show Yanyan's flawed character as a human...but no...CDrama's habit of Mary Sue FL never ceases...
Actually....Hunian does have a type. She's into muscular warrior men...Out of the 3 sisters...she probably has…
We all did, that's why the score on Douban is so low, since it was far below viewers expectation. Dramas can still have high ratings for low budget comedy romance with a cast full of newbies, as long as the production team advertise to the right audience. They didn't, thus why it failed miserably.

From the many reviews between those who were expecting romance didn't get it or those who were expecting politics didn't get what they want either. Like two headless snakes sharing one body.
It's a mess of a script!
The story itself has so much potential if the scriptwriters knew what they wanted to focus on, and stick with it.
However, they wanted to appease too many viewers at once...and the casting. They wasted the A-listers' talent, with poor characters. I love the actor who plays the Minister/father of the Xiao's sisters. But he hardly even utilized a fourth of his acting abilities in this drama. What a waste of money to cast him!

Exactly, the way they wrote the script, it should be title "Legend of Mingyi" or "The Liao Dynasty", then the netizen wouldn't be so upset. If you watch Legend of Dugu, of the 3 Dugu Sisters, the attention of each sister was evenly spread among them, with no complaints, except they totally miscast the second sister who can't act to save her life.
A King's responsibility is to reproduce aside from his duties to his kingdom. Infant mortality is high during that time, and marriage alliance is what keep invaders at bay. Only children who survive to a certain age are recorded in history. In my opinion, he should be utilizing his harem more to keep his bloodline secure considering his stupid brother falling for a selfish maid is now a eunuch.
The original novel didn't focus on teenage romance as it did in the drama, however, the scriptwriter decided that romance was what they focus on. It took more than half the drama for Yanyan to take her responsibilities as the Queen of the Nation, with little effort on her part. A heroine is someone who fought for her gain. This is why Yanyan's character becomes such a disappointment in the end.

Netizen who don't like Yanyan, the character is more due to script itself, aside from the actress lack of improvement since Chinese Paladine 3. Instead of the legendary warrior Queen, we all grew up with, and with history books to back up, Yanyan's character is reduced to someone who spent more time sitting around having her makeup done. The powers she possesses was placed on a silver platter rather than fought with her own strength.
Overall the scriptwriter can't figure out whether this is a Mary Sue idol romance or a historical political drama. However, they fail on both aspects, which is why it has such a low rating, despite having many A-lister casts on the payroll. Plus the drama offended many Han Chinese, who always viewed Yanyan as the antagonist/rival of the Song Dynasty. A well-known powerful Queen was reduced to a weakling love sick girl, even as a Queen she was dependent on the shrewdness of her King and on the love of an ex-lover in order to secure her nation, is a slap in their face. An archenemy, at that level, is an insult.

They had to, or the FL would look like a Villian. And the Netizen already dislike the Yanyan(and the actress poor performance playing her), with such a low scoring on Douban
The actor's abilities and his character is not that interesting to be honest. He needs to be more vulnerable for me to like him ?
She's nothing but weapon, or a propaganda to put the people's in their place. No difference than the current society of then and now.

Out of the 3 sisters...she probably has the most fun in the bedroom(More accurately her tent)XD
