How old are you? Just curious...
Not the mother's tongue, but close enough because our language are similar. That's also why it helps me with translation projects when needs be, but I got some native friends to help me out too.

Yep, I have a playlist of WB. They are an adorable couple. What I like about the story is that the wife enhance their relationship throughout, because she's babysitting two man child. XD

I don't remember everything, since I've been on a BL audiobook spree the last year, and found many amazing BL works that are lessor known but still amazing world building and beloved characters. I probably have to refresh my memories a bit.

Oh my, we must have the same mind. I was fangirling Winter Begonia like crazy when it was released. Although I didn't read the novel, every moment was precious, where storytelling focuses on the human relationship as a whole, rather than snippets of one's POV. The chemistry between the main leads, and the supporting cast was realistic and relatable.

Of course, you and I will have the same taste. And yes, we do have to pay attention to who we are speaking to over the internet. For example, religion, nationality, and age. I would not use sailor language with someone who is underage for example.

In another incident, a group of us older gals was trying to convince this one person that calling one's family member hot is in no way incest. Finally, we found out she was only 15, lived in an unhealthy home environment, and shouldn't be reading adult materials with no guidance or knowledge to understand the complexity of what she was reading. It would have saved our time if we found out her age earlier...hence why asking for a person's age does help with communication.

In the matter of the WOH sudden popularity, I've been mentioning on Twitter that the reason why Word of Honor is such a sleeper hit was that the production company knew that everyone was only paying attention to Immortality and Sha Po Lang. Given, Word of Honor aka Faraway Wanderer is an older novel than Guardian and Sha Po Lang, shorter and stay relatively unnoticed, while a high production, Immortality had the A-lister casts and budget to boot. Hence, they took a completely diffident route with barely any announcement of their existence, which created a low-nonexistent bar for themselves. Because without expectation, is the true source of happiness.

Both upcoming Dramas(Immortality/ShaPoLang) also have a large fanbase, while Word of Honor had none. They are what I would say is an underdog. So instant comparison with other major finished productions when they barely released many episodes/eng sub, meanwhile many of the dialogues on youtube were terrible to say the least, is premature.

Yes! I read it in two languages, listened to the audio version, CD dramas, and got a huge collection of their fanarts. XD

I often find when someone immediately takes any form of questioning in a negative tone often experience it previously. Which is totally understandable, because we all have different life experience, so there may be triggers we may not be aware of.

I have a friend who always immediately, without fail, assumes others think she's a slut. Not only that, she put words in our mouths, accusing us of thinking so without basis. In reality, we never judge her as such, because it's her own body. If she's proud of what she's doing, why care what any of us think of her? The perception was her own imagination, while most of us just don't really give it much thought.

On the other note, the reason why I thank you is that you took your time and thoroughly explain your personal views, with examples and a neutral tone, while taking into account that nothing is black and white. Even within religions or political debates, I find those who lash out or immediately make an accusation of attacks, without digging deeper into the other's thoughts of why they ask in the first place, are the most difficult to communicate with.

However, once in a blue moon, when we find that one person who takes questions as an opportunity for a healthy discussion, often or not, enhances our personal viewpoints and growth. Which is why you are one of the gems on this thread. :)

Seriously, I was reading Douban reviewers, and those who scored this drama with low stars were obsessively comparing…
Actually, while the Untamed Fandom was trying to get credit, they forgot it was Guardian that started everything since they were the catalyst. Guardian seems to be more humble about it, and didn't bring it up, even though Guardian and Word of Honor aka Tian Yake are both written by Priest.

There is more Priest live adapted works than any other authors right now, including works that are not even BL.

- Legend of Fei
- Sha Po Lang
- Word of Honor
- Guardian

Thank you for your kind insight and support. And yes, I would not waste more time on someone who is still unaware their communication is clearly telling of their maturity. I did find it amusing the reply directed at me was more organized with correct spacing and punctuation, while with others, she/he didn't even bother. XD

Age is just a number, which was why I provided the examples above, but it seems to have gone to deaf ears.

Once I got involved in a comment section argument due to an abrasive lady, who was more of a bully, using her marital status as a means to degrade others' opinions, while repeatedly calling herself 'wise'. But to be honest, I only jumped in because it ticked me she used the word "wise" and "wiser" over 20 times without any proof of her beliefs while others sent her countless facts to back up their claims. The redundancy was killing me. XD

As you said, this is a public forum, where if one is too sensitive to answer questions to their opinions, why bother even posting?

When will obsessive CQL fans leave other Danmei adaptations alone? Can't enjoy a single adaptation without that…
Seriously, I was reading Douban reviewers, and those who scored this drama with low stars were obsessively comparing it with CQL. It's not even the same genre!!!

Do they not know it's not about Xianxia but Wuxia? It's like comparing apples and oranges, and not to mention the characters are completely different! This also shows they probably don't read all that much in their spare time, or bother to read in general for personal growth, if they think CQL is the basis for all BL works.

Actually, age tells a lot from comments alone. I came across underage reviewers, watching/reading/viewing works that are too high level for their age because of the lack of knowledge and world experience.

Poetic language for example, which those who don't read often or immersed themselves in multiple languages give themselves away.

Once I come across an intensive argument between two commenters over a movie's message. Finally, the older mature commenter found out he was arguing with a 12 years old, who did not understand the concept of human trafficking, slavery, and child prostitution. Hence why that child, 12 years of age demeaned the victims of such circumstances.

But you do have a point. Age may not matter in certain situation where one is overly sheltered. I have a friend who always bragged about how she travels often. Only did I traveled with her, did I realize she never leaves the resort. Worst, she was afraid of leaving the resort, which later I found out, she had never truly experienced any local life. She never lives life like a true traveler, despite her personal belief.

Life experience actually means something even if others like you may not agree. Your "specific "communication comes across as such, hence why your comment alerted me and some others.

Yet, if you are young, it's understandable, if you are older, then it's kind of unfortunate, but there is still time to learn if you choose to expand your world.

Poetic dialogues tend to do that to some because they require more thought to understand the full meaning... while others require all characters to be saints rather than the flaw humans which we know

Highly advise watching this drama and read the novel at the same time. The inner thoughts of Zhao ZiShi after Wen Kexing's pick-up lines are hilarious!

Keep in mind, this is one of Priest's earlier works. Shorter and less well known. They also broadcast without much warning, or have a high budget like ErHA/Immortality and Sha Po Lang/Winner is King, both highly anticipated BL adaptations, which were filmed last year and will be broadcast this year.

Enjoy it if you like it, ignore it if you don't. Definitely not a low-key drama where "Bromance" is a concern. XD

Watched so far, Episode 1-8.

Bad and terrible endings are one thing...but going out of their way to change history to have a tragic for historical characters is beyond help.

It's like the communist country trying to tell their citizen to stop complaining about their lives because historical figures are worst off...
