Yes, Im surprised people would think that someone who has lived a rough life and used to have illicit affairs with men in her previous life would cry over an aggressive kiss. She brushed it off afterwards as if nothing had happened and started becoming softer with him too. Not sure why people are more outraged than she is.

I think some viewers may be quite young or used to idol dramas. I understand it can be triggering to some but that’s not a light drama and it’s fiction.

I didn’t mean from her end but his. He has definitely been secretly pinning for her since she saved him years ago. He admitted following her (that’s when he discovered she was mean to servants and distanced himself as she had changed). He really idealised her at the beginning and then rediscovered her as her teacher. In his previous life too, he showed her hatred but was secretly in love (even ending up killing himself). So yes, very much slow burn love for him that finally exploded during his manic episode

I must applaud the comedic relief included between dramatic scenes. That moment when the FL sucked the blood out of his finger thinking he was dying. And him casually waking up with bedroom eyes and moving his finger sensually. They are both cray cray hahaha

He is definitely a red flag but it’s definitely not sudden. It’s literally been a slow burn since the first episode . And they have spent a lot of 1:1 time together as student/teacher.

I think it may be subjective because I actually didn’t think Hua Qian was clever- she was led by her emotions and her desire to protect her family even if they were criminals. She didn’t grasp the bigger picture either.

How refreshing to have a FL that uses her brain to make deductions and doesn’t get fooled easily!! She finally connected the dots about his real identity.

I agree, I think we are not seeing the same thing. She was half fighting and half kissing him back. He was aggressive and forceful but she didn’t really fight back or tried to leave because she is starting to love him. Now obviously in a normal scenario a man shouldn’t be this aggressive unless given explicit consent but he can’t control himself during his manic episodes, that’s why he takes drugs. She also knows this that’s why she is not mad at him.

I don’t think it’s weird at all. You have to remember that the FL was a vixen in her past life - she was used to use her charma and body to get who and what she wants. She is not the same but she remembers and it’s still her. So she is not a naive, innocent girl. She could have just ran when he let her go but she stayed and started becoming possessive over him too - i thought it was a brilliant way to show her true self, a fearless queen. And I think it’s also to show viewers her inner fight: she must have already started liking him earlier but was in denial. You can tell she naturally gravitated towards him a d was attracted to him. I don’t think they wanted to make it romantic- it was meant to be a pretty sad and raw scene where they showed their true, flawed selves.

Like after acting like her exasperated grandpa teacher for many episodes, he did a whole rebranding to pretend they’ve always been informal and close. Such a little fox lol

XW is now in my top 3 male leads. His character is so well written and consistent. Now THIS is how you write and play a tsundere male lead without making him to be totally psycho or abusive. I love how he's always almost crossing the line but never goes too far. And his smart self found a way to keep her always by his side (qin lesson) - he is way too smart for her to get away from him haha
