I hope they will make it into two seasons otherwise 200+ chapters in 36 episodes feels like a joke. But It can be done, if a single episode is two hours long. Xiao Zhan would look amazing as Xie Jing Xing from The Malicious Empress of Military Lineage. It's a female centric drama but it's male lead is one of the best I have ever read. It seems Iam one of the few who want to see Xiao Zhan as Xie Jing Xing, it's not because of me being a fan but only Xiao Zhan looks like he can carry this character well in terms of visuals and acting. I actually want the best suitable person for this novel, as this novel is the first and best chinese novel I ever read, so it's close to my heart
Xiao Zhan would be perfect for Xie Jing Xing, except he is above 30 (I didn't mind the age but many do, I prefer seeing a good adaptation of this novel with sufficient episodes). But if they can't find anyone that fits xjx according to Writer, they shouldn't touch this novel. Some actors have skills but not his looks, others have looks but not skills, I have yet to see an actor that feels like a complete package for xie jing xing, Writer surely writes female orientated novels but her male leads are not to be taken lightly at all. Don't worry about screen time. Writer has developed these characters excellently, the story is a masterpiece. Casting is amazing for both leads, now production only needs to ensure to not let the writer and fans down. The male lead is very strong and compliments He Yan in every regard, she is not our normal female lead, her man needs to be strong enough to be humble and wise enough to not feel threatened by her resolve, ambitions and witt. And this is what was lacking in He Yan's husband in first life, he felt intimidated by her, hated the scars on her body, which were a medal to her, as she once charged into the battlefield with arrow in her shoulder, wounded and bleeding, and she won, I don't remember the exact details, but her husband was in hindsight jealous of her, shamed her for not being a noble lady, indirectly (as she was brought up as a boy so she didn't knew female classics about virtue and things like music and embroidery). He conspired with He family and blinded her, and tortured her enough mentally that she were about to commit suicide, but she was strong enough to not do it, then she was drowned by her husband as he and her family felt threatened by her valour, that she can survive being blind and all mental torture. He was hailed as a gentleman in the capital. It's all about story, screen time doesn't matters here, as long as they don't mess up the novel, writer has already given the brightest jewel to Xiao Jue

Except him, I cannot think of any other actor that fits my imagination, I have read the suggestions for shen miao and xie jing xing below, they are good actors in their own regard, but I can't imagine them as shen miao and xie jing xing, although I have seen almost all of their works. For xie jing Xing, the writer has set the bar quite high, and so are our expectations now. The acting needs to be top notch, the visuals need to be top notch. Visual wise, only Xiao Zhan meets the criteria for xie jing xing, acting wise I haven't seen him much except Untamed, in which his acting was good. He has been doing too many sweet roles which are not my cup of tea, maybe he didn't wanted to be type casted after Untamed, or maybe these roles take a toll on mental health. And this novel is quite female centric but nevertheless needs a strong male lead.
