Iam sure, without these villains, our leads wouldn't be so in love with each other. They may even haven't met in this life. So all these elements make this story a blockbuster, not just their romance, but their love and care for each other amidst of snow storm and rain of ashes

I feel this life would be much stifling, if Dou Zhao hadn't had him as a rebirth buddy. It's so good to have someone to talk to, is intelligent, grasps the essence of the matter easily and is tight lipped and a loyal friend. Song Mo is also like this, but he met her 16 long years after rebirth and he didn't remember the past and can never guess the amount of weight Dou Zhao carries in her heart, as she knows the trajectory and ending of each of their lives. So in a sense Ji Jianming YuanTong will always be a special person in her life. Let him become Grand Secretary, the highest civil official under the emperor

Oh.. I loved her role in Untamed and badly wanted her to be romantically coupled with Wei Wuxian. Wei and Lan just felt like to me how a friendship should be, but I still wanted him to be paired with her, especially how they both took care of people in that barren land, it felt like the warmth of a family he was missing all along. I remembered her since then, and watched all her dramas.

The Su sisters, twin sisters, maids who are proficient in marshal arts by Du Zhao's side

She couldn't even save her own mother, in her own house, in between people she had known all her life. How can she save the duchess and sister of a duke in the high and mighty duke mansion where people are tight lipped and servants cannot easily be bought or spies put inside. Whatever she did for him is already the most she can do in her abilities and how much she can affect the overall outcome of story. She managed to save wu grandson, which died in original timeline with painstaking efforts but wu grandfather still had to resign and return to hometown. Song Mo killed people in the duke mansion, but this time he spared his clansmen, brother and father. This is the ultimate extent she can go to with her 16 years of efforts in cultivating, money, spies and people around her, but story still somehows pursues the original timeline.

Yeah, he walked right into the trap. His personality is upright, emotional and simple. He didn't spoke in twists and turns for even a minute. He was just not for the cut throat politics of court. Personally I think he got out of quagmire in time, otherwise this price now, would not be enough. In the previous life, he fell ill after floods in futing, after he worked for disaster relief efforts, his grandfather was so heartbroken, he resigned and returned to hometown. Atleast now he still has his grandson alive, and he is still working for court, and more so doing what he loves in Ministry of Construction. I think, it followed last life's trajectory, but still a better end
