Just recently, Go Yun Jeong played a high schooler in Moving although she was 25/26 years old, Bona played a high schooler at 26 in Twenty Five Twenty One, Kim Tae Ri played a high schooler at 31 in the same drama, Hwang In Yeop played a high schooler at 29 in True Beauty and at 30 in The Sound of Magic, Kim Bum played a student at 32 in Law School... I could go on and on. All these examples were well-accepted by the audience and didn't create controversy. Of course one of the best example is in Hollywood with Michael J. Fox playing a 17 yo although he was 25 in Back To The Future, a movie that quickly became a worldwide hit and a cult classic. We'll see if Im Si Wan gets a good response playing a high schooler at 34 in the upcoming Boyhood.
The thing is, people will get immersed if the acting is good and if there is no significant gap between the actor's appearance and the role (like Song Joong Ki playing a student at 36 in Reborn Rich). They might even get surprised when they discover the actor's real age.
Yang Se Jong is a great actor and it's probably because of this that he was offered this role to get to work with reknowned director Lee Jeong Hyo. So far he has made excellent choices and I really can't wait to watch again his exceptional acting.

The huge gap was because of military service and change of agency. As for his Still 17's co-stars, Shin Hye Sun and Ahn Hyo Seop don't have military service, and Lee Do Hyun is going to serve soon so he rushed to shoot many dramas before leaving. Nevertheless, I agree that Yang Se Jong makes us wait a bit... He's known for his ability to chose good projects, and for his method acting, that's why he doesn't shoot projects back to back anymore like in 2016-2017. But I hope he announces a new project before "Doona!" get released.

Yang Se Jong was her best co-star. I remember that she said in an interview after Still 17 that for the first time she felt extremely comfortable to cry and convey emotion on a set. Yang Se Jong is a great actor himself and their emotional scenes face to face were extraordinary.
