Probable reason for the annoying princess to marry the ML: 1. when the Princess threatens ML that she will harm FL or 2. when the princess threatens the FL that she will hurt or do something bad to the ML, so FL will hurt ML so bad and will leave to save him.

Yup, it's not like he loss his memory or something, forgotten about his wife and his children then fell in love with his wife at that "age", I could've reacted differently for sure. But we are talking about a 38 yrs old man here who loves his family so much and seeing his wife and hearing her "declaration" about how she felt about her divorced to him probably put him also in his most vulnerable sate.
