Based on the novel MX didn't show he was interested in her until they were in the hospital.
He was always fascinated with her tea brewing skills, and ShiYi was able to answer his cryptic poem/test to find a wife. But this is after Shiyi and ZSC got married legally.
So no drama in the novel. Not sure if the script writter will change alittle for more dramatic in F&E. 🤷🏻♀️
Anyone noticed the contrast of him always waiting for her to finish work, go sleep etc? Its like role reversed when ShiYi was waiting for her master ZSC to come home, to read, have meals together.

From what i can see due to censorship they had to change the drama alittle bit from the novel adaptation. However the change were made perfectly. Instead of ShiYi having flashback memories of thebpast. She is the dubbed voice actress for O&O drama for the FL. And this in itself is her living in the memories of her past. She would hurt and cry at any scene where ShiYi in O&O would feel. The flash back of her memory became the flashback of the O&O drama.
Thats why when she heard his name being called at the airport she is instantly interested in him. Fate have brought them togeher and she will not let it slip. Due to her relieving the anxiety of losing him.
Everything else is by the novel so far. Hopefully this can give you some perspective.
