Heya~ Just to be clear, Shadow Love is more romance than political, so it mainly focuses on the female and male leads' love journey in the first 29/30 episodes. ALSO, our FL, Shuang, is more of a female general who relies on her wits and strategies rather than power or strength (informing ya just in case :3)
The angst arcs start after episode 30, in which he lost his memories of his days as Jin An. The "heavy-hearted pain, humiliation, or aching betrayal that the FL lead has to go through" would be during the torture scenes, at the start of the memory-loss part, which went for about 4-5 episodes... However, it wasn't dragged out for too long (which is good imo), and ML slowly but surely remembers his sweet past with the FL.. His habits during the days with the FL have already become a part of him, which he didn't even realise~ It was delightful to watch 🤭.
That said, the initial 30 episodes do involve gripping fight scenes, such as that iconic "landing on the ML's arm" scene during one of FL's battles against the Yao army. Their chemistry is fire~❤🔥✨❤🔥✨
