Well agree to disagree on SITR lol, the similarities are precisely the reason why I hesitated initially on watching OSN.
The music was probably one of the only things (aside from the palpable chemistry between the leads) that I truly liked about SITR, it's been 2 years but I still remember.

Saying that this drama reminds you of why you fell in love with KDramas is high praise especially almost 50 dramas later lol.

Wow what a thorough and beautifully written response! I've got to be honest the rather obvious similarities and feel of the show reminded me so much of SITR that I almost put this drama straight in my "Not Interested" list, but Jung Hae In made me hesitate, and your response completely changed me mind. The drama must TRULY be something for someone to go into being okay with a sub-par ending LOL!

Wasn't Cha Min's character described as someone "smart" lol? That's what I mean I noticed people were criticizing certain character's decision, or even the writing in general, so I wanted to get a clearer picture on whether this is worth the watch or not.

Oh okay that makes sense, I've dropped plenty of movies/dramas for the same reason.

I strongly agree with you that 2019 has in fact not been a strong year for dramas, but there's plenty that I'm excited for in the 2nd half of this year! So watching a believable modern day drama will be a delight as long as it stays consistent without delving down the same frustrating path that it's predecessor SITR did...
Not gonna lie though I'm actually a fan of cliche tropes I.E. childhood friends, first loves, and etc. lol xD

Anyways you've convinced me, I'll give it a try! Still gonna wait until it's complete because I don't watch currently airing drama (other than a handful of exceptions).

I'm a fan of Park Bo Young and was so excited to see her return to dramas, while waiting for 'Abyss' to finish so that I can binge it, I noticed that a lot of people don't like this drama...
What's so horrible about it!? And if you are someone that did drop this what made you do so??? (spoilers are appreciated because if it's truly that bad I don't want to waste my time)

I didn't like SITR either, but off of a first impression they do look kinda similar (hell they're even written & directed by the same duo!).

That's the thing that got me with Something in the Rain, I liked it UNTIL the 10th episode then it was just downhill from there! >.<

Now maybe I asked this question too soon since only 10 episodes have aired thus far, but I know how popular this show is and that's made me really intrigued! I'll probably take your advice about watching the first 2 episodes, otherwise just to be on the safe side wait until it's complete to get the full picture...

BTW you mentioned that this is by far your favorite drama this year, can you share why??

Also if you've seen "Something in the Rain" how does it compare? Because I was getting major SITR 2.0 vibes from this... if that's the case I don't want to go through that again!

Yes the leads do end up together but you don't see any romance until episode 44 where they FINALLY kiss. Sure you can tell that Deng Lun's character had a one-sided crush on the FL earlier on in the drama, but it isn't until the last 4 episodes that they actually get together.
On the other hand the FL has a crush on the 2nd ML from the beginning of the drama, and even dates him for about 10-15 episodes... just to put those two things into perspective.

For the love of all things holy unless you REALLY love real estate give this drama a skip!
Let me just say that this drama isn't awful, but if you are watching because you were excited for this pairing (Deng Lun & Angelababy) you're bound to be disappointed...

Oh I totally agree that it's not racist with regards to not being able to differentiate between idol members/actors at first glance (I get them mixed up too), but there's one specific person that comes to mind in my inner circle that says "that they all look the same" in a demeaning/snarky way not in a harmless confused manner.
I hope that clarifies things, some people are just close-minded which is a shame but oh well. :)

OMG I relate to this article so much, I constantly get teased about watching Asian Dramas by my family & friends! The main "critique" that my friends give is either that the Male Actors look like women/effeminate OR that they all look the same.... racist.
Long story short I just stopped talking about Dramas around them.

You know what really needs a season 2... Signal!! I even assumed there would be one considering how they ended it, but it's been 3 years now and I'm not any closer to gaining closure. >.<

In all honesty I put this drama in my "Not Interested" list, not because it isn't good I mean the last 2 episodes made me teary-eyed, but because it isn't at all what you think you're signing on for.
Without actually spoiling it let me just say that if you wanted to watch this because of the synopsis just know you'll feel bamboozled. This drama is NOT AT ALL what it sounds like in the description above. Now as for whether it's better or worse... that's just a matter of opinion.

It's more of an Open Ending.
