damn why didn't anyone tell me this was queer coded as hell? I would have watched this so much sooner. In all seriousness the chemistry is insane between multiple pairings. Great acting from every single character holy shit.
Seriously one of the most impressive female lead drama I've seen. Very unique and incredibly engaging. The music is incredibly good as well. Jung Eun Chae surprised me a big time, she was so believable in this masculine role to the point that I completely forgot ever seeing her in any other role. I'm so impressed. I can definitely see the effort she put in this role.
Obviously Tae Ri was amazing but I wasn't surprised. She has proved herself to be versatile in many projects.
Only complaint I have is that I wish this had been longer. Ju Ran's ending was also miserable. Realistic but very sad. I wish we had seen a bit more after the last performance and it seems that some plot holes remain due to lack of time. I would say this was more on the obvious side of queer coded dramas, if you have eyes and ears, this was very gay.

which tbh bothered the heck out of me in the first few minutes of this dramas as well. But she seems pretty good since I fast got so invested that I got over the initial repulsion

These first two episodes were honestly hella cool. I do agree that Im Ji Yeon's "innocent and happy country girl" -act was cringe at best but to be fair she is much more convincing as a traumatized noble lady with secrets. I'd say this drama is so far very intriguing to watch and the setting is cool. I'm a little weirded out with the ml having an identical twin reveal, the way the scenes were filmed was odd at best and I'm confused whether the twin was knowingly there to see him or if he had no idea their faces are identical... you know lack of mirrors and shit.
I guess we find out next week, though I genuinely think there was already quite a lot of plot to handle even without an identical twin
but oh well. We will see.

ngl the ending was a bit disappointing and overall this drama could have been improved by slight changes in script
BUT of course I'm happy they were able to release this whole drama in the first place. Very happy actually. Hope other chinese companies use this method in the future for the dramas they won't be able to release in china.

I honestly think this was a pretty solid remake but it would be a lie to say that this was better than the og. Short, concise and faithful to the source material yes. But better than the og? I would disagree.
The portrayal of the family dynamics were maybe the best thing in the og and obviously a remake this short could never capture all the feelings and nuances. I'm not saying it's a bad thing but it's pretty difficult to look at this as a stand alone drama when they didn't really make many changes other than shortening plotpoints. .. Honestly, that does make this a pretty good remake. There is nothing distinctive that bothers me in this remake, because overall I think they understood the source material and simply made it into a korean version with less episodes.
Obviously the remake would fit people who prefer their dramas shorter. I get it, I honestly do because I genuinely do agree that the og could have condensed some plotlines as well. (like the short 'love triangle' moment was uselessly and awkwardly long in the og and that was imo done well here.
So in other words, if you are intrigued by the plot summary but don't have 40 hours or so to spend on watching Go Ahead, this will get you the plot in a pretty package but with less feelings.

I don't know what's happening really but the chemistry is chemistry-ing and yeah kinda hot. Enemies to lovers for her while he has just tried not to show that he does in fact care about her a lot.

Maybe it's just my mental state but I find this boring as hell. The acting seems bad?? or maybe it's the lack of chemistry or the script. Ngl I've never really liked Lee Jong Won's roles so this isn't anything new. But surprisingly, Kim Se Jong comes across incredibly fake here. And I obviously don't mean the scenes where she is just trying to act like she is okay. I mean the whole character seems lackluster and fake.

4 episodes left but I'm still worried over how much plot there is to unpack. I'm sensing a sad ending and I very much hope I'm wrong.

But pursuing a romance wasn't the main point of the movie though? The point was that they both saved each other multiple times. Tian Yu lived so he was able to change Run Fa's fate completely.
It would have been pretty depressing if he had erased their time together if they had gotten together imo. This way they were able to leave it an open ending. Now they can be together.

Censored bls exist because of the PRC, where this movie wasn't even published. This movie to me isn't even about them getting together romantically. Run Fa dies in the og timeline before they even have time to discuss any of it but he saves Tian Yu regardless of how Tian Yu feels about him. Tian Yu decides to live and keep going because of Run Fa. I'd say that's pretty romantic.

Can't name you a single hetero movie like that because I'm not a huge movie person. But I would think at least a few movies exist where the leads like each other but don't have time to get together in the movie.

I get being mad at PRC and the fact that censored bls have to exist in the place, but I wouldn't throw around the word censored bl if you have no proof of that being the case. Maybe you are right and they are trying to release this movie in mainland china as well, but in my opinion this movie is easily interpreted as romantic but the characters simply do not get enough time to pursue those feelings.

Imagine what lol? Movies are about interpretation and understanding things that are implied.

I'm a little confused over why people are saying this is bromance.
In my opinion, it would be easy to look at this from the lense of romance for both of them. The awkwardness and tension between them after the accidental kiss and after staring at each other for a bit too long does not scream friendship to me.
I don't think there is any reason to label this as 'bromance' just because they never explicitly said that they like each other or like guys in general. That wasn't point of the movie.

Now that I stopped sobbing my eyes out. I gotta say that they left a lot for the viewers to unpack by themselves. I really thought we would get a scene of what happened after his death. They did show on screen that they didn't get condoms, I really thought they'd show Jae Mi pregnant after his death. I guess I was waiting for miracles to happen to at least some of the characters.
The bodygourd or whatever most deffinitely had feelings for Eu Heung. I thought I was simply making it gay, but naah their scenes were screaming chemistry and that awkwardness of being into someone.

I will only say that this is probably one of the best dramas I've seen this year and I do feel like killing myself.
