The original fate belonged to his friend. Everything else that happened after seemed unfair to him.

I laughed so hard when the father brought flowers 😭😭. I can't believe how funny this is. It reminds me of welcome to waikiki type of humor. If people weren't judging it on whether it's a bl or not, it would have a much higher rating.

Bisexuals standing here like... uhh
I love a good bl, don’t get me wrong, but I don’t think every story about intimacy between 2 men has to be romantic, because there are so many other forms of love that exist. I think it’s queered in a way that exists outside the standard straight and gay. The fact that he is seeking out intimacy still without any attraction yet is really subversive in itself.

I no longer trust the rating on this site because this has to be one of the best kdramas out right now. It's hilarious and fun, but also is also very unique and honest in the portrayal of the ml and how heis handling the situation. It would be refreshing if it doesn't turn into a bl, but rather explores how their relationship adjusts and evolves despite the circumstances. I think their friendship when she's a man is so sweet, because it's rooted in love. Making it into a bl would cheapen the nuanced relationship I believe it's trying to explore.

This show is criminally underrated. It's an 8.5 for me. It does a great job balancing comedy and societal issues to where you can laugh one minute and have so many feels the next. The humour kind of reminds me of zombie detective, which is another underrated show. Even the office space is the same, which is fun reference. It feels like they're in the same universe.

Honestly, the latter eps diminished the intriguing political angst and magnificence of the first few eps. Now,…
I'm so glad someone else noticed her lack of skill when it comes to her acting. I noticed this first in the The Demon Hunter's Romance, and I was hoping she would improve for this show, but I now see that that's just her acting style.

The show doesn't know what story it wants to tell. Is it a religious drama, a romance, or a show about what happens to companion pets after they pass. It's really all over the place, and I feel a bit disappointed because I was really into the love story between two leads. Now I have no clue what is happening.

Actress acting
There’s vulnerability and there’s awkward acting choices. Her facial expression ranges from looking lost to looking like a scared mouse. Her timing is off compared to the pace of everyone else. She honestly just seems out of place.

I'd rather have a court jester than the slapstick comedy in GOTD. It's good but that slapstick is cringy at times.
I think the slapstick in GOTD gradually improved as the series progressed. It was a hard watch the first couple of episodes because I could not stop cringing at the characters, but it seemed to evolve from cringe to the kind of fun humour that you would normally see in a kdrama.

I wished Ji Yang 2.0 was evil, or at least struggling between kindness and darkness. That would've made the character…
Exactly. I'm currently watching Lost You, Found You, and the couple has more chemistry in each 10 minute episode than JY and NY in all the episodes combined. But I admit that I keep tuning in for the young dragon lord's terrible poetry. I would watch a series just about him.

What a generic snooze fest.
Finally someone who is honest about how bad it is. I saw the rating and was waiting for it to get good, but it lack substance and is not even pretty to look at.

What's new, everyone in the MDL comment section has nothing but negative notes for the airing show. Well, that's…
You made an amazing point on how the pacing of the show does not match the pacing of their irl relationship, and this is such an intentional point the writer is trying to make. Bl stories don't accurately portray real life courtships where both are scared of taking such a leap. It demands that we respect the courage that is required for gay people to express their love in highly homophobic societies. It really is story of of them pushing through their fear with beautiful moments of vulnerability.

what you're suggesting isn't plausible because it wouldn't have passed chinese censorship...
Thank you for confirming some things. I’ve never read the book but I was curious about how Xiao Yao felt while that was happening. You could tell she was confused about her feeling but couldn’t resist XL’s advances. Partly from fear but also from her strong desires. But I love the complex feelings of each character and how they’re developing each episode.
