this has all the ingredients if a good show, if only they had reversed the episodes on past with present. Fine we know th FL felt wronged, resentful and annoyed. But she shows no compassion no understanding for the ML's struggles, even though he was younger than her and faced a bigger trauma than her. She is so enthralled in her girl boss , mean self, trying to hurt him in every possible way even though he weas his vulnerability on his sleeve. Compassion is the largest part of love; difficult to buy into a love story when the woman is so intentionally unkind.
Can you tell me what happened? What's this comment about?
Cancel culture and lack of forgiveness is responsible for this. We have made sure that we make it impossible for people to get over things they said in some other time, in some other context. People grow, people learn, people change all the time-- that growth is what we should applaud. Thankfully the world is changing and rejecting cancel culture,( at least in the US,), I guess K-drama fans haven't got that memo yet
I thought I would watch for Timmy - then I saw the ditsy terrible acting of FL - not her fault maybe, the director…
Thank you for pointing out the prevalence of strabismus in C actresses. I thought I was the only person it bothered. Maybe it is a cultural thing and they don't notice it at all
I droped this drama some time ago after first ep., because of FL. For me, she is really annoying. I´m thinking…
No it didnt improve at all. her expression remained very caricature like. Maybe they like such dressing style in Taiwan, but in my city such style is adopted by homeless people. Dropped it at episode 10. The story started as a commentary on the absurdity of the cold arrogant CEO romance and then the FL ended up behaving just like the FL s of those very romances. The high rating is because of some clever writing in epi 3 and 4 regarding the romance tropes. Unfortunately the story goes nowhere
I'm liking this drama so far but does the FL become less annoying? I keep wanting her to stop talking already,…
I agree. Some of her facial expressions are too exaggerated, like a mime act. The super-animation that you mentioned feels like a comic book exaggeration
Why is the FL so distressingly dressed? Her entire persona is so untidy and unkempt that it is a blocker from watching the drama. Did they mean to make her so dowdy ? Writers and editors may not be glamorous but they can be portrayed better; the FL here is downright shabby and almost unmindful of personal hygiene. Haiya, so difficult to wade through the first episodes, only going on because of the glowing reviews
The only thing good about this drama is that it introduced me to Zhong Chu XI, she is effortless and incandescent. What a lovely actor. The ML just looked lame and a loser. What's with the unmoving cow's lick forever falling over his forehead? It looked like hair transplant didnt really work.. Also his personality is very SMLish , he just had no drive no vigor and felt washed out in front of the FL, whose spontaneous expressions and smile dominated every scene she was in . Sorry
And that hasn't changed not yet. I wander around a lot but I always end up coming back to them.
Somehow feel like a mother, having seen them as very young men and now etablished actors. They really are the best and most long lasting pair in the BL domain...... there is some magic they strike off against each other's performance .
the first episode was epic. Tay New are such amazing actors and they are the perfect example of 'old is gold'.…
The Kiss series and Dark Blue Kiss were my first BL and very rarely have we scaled the charm of that Tay New union in the BL world. There have been many great performances but the Kao- Pete reluctant admission to love, Kao's tearful rejection of Pete's unkindness , Pete's pettiness as he struggled to make sense of the fact that he was falling in love with a man, the angst, the emotions, the anger and the yearning as both fought against the fact that this was happening to them--- its BL gold. Its just that the Pete Kao story came stuck in a bundle of forgettable stories and characters, that is why it doesnt get counted as one of the greats. But leave it to the viewers to celebrate what was truly good... and thanks to some kind folks who edited out the Pete Kao story for YT, we are able to pay homage to that beloved part of the main story. Tay and New should know how great their together performances are.... they just bring out the best in each other
MollySF I agree with you about the writing and the situations. I think TayNew were a great choice for this series.…
Loved the fact that Achi is Karan's batchmate and repeatedly evaluates his life against Karan's progress in life. That makes for a poignant and difficult path ahead..bittersweet. in the Japanese version the one way hero worship is established because of the age, status diffrence between the two. looking forward to how Achi reconciles this mixed emotion. Also the colleagues looked so realistic.. unlike the earlier version which had very unidimensional side characters. Excited..... I loved the Japanese version too, I just think the Thai version is giving it a more human relatable dimension
This si a great interpretation of the Manga. Loved the Japanese version too, but somehow Tay and New seem to be on surer grounds-- how much they have grown in their craft since they started ... Also great writing, none of the situations and dialogues look unnatural or contrived (better than the Japanese version on this issue for sure)... absolutely perfect episode
At this point Iam just weeping in gratitude that Tay and New are back together in Cherry Magic. I hope Tay and New realise wha magic they create together.
Is there a Season 2 coming for the Book 2? Hope they dont do an Addicted Heroin again with us. Also hope the actors get other work immediately or unlike the original actors they dont face stigma. I wish we international audience knew how to make sure these two precious actors do not face any negativity and their careers can go on unscathed.
So r we having a drama version for Book 2??? I cried a litre of tears 😭😭😭😭 That accident part where…
Oh you are so right. I never imagined I could forget Johnny and Timmy as the characters but honestly Xu Bin has surpassed Johnny's portrayal, despite not being the body type that Gu Hai was supposed to be... Xu Bin's eyes are so expressive that now for me he remains the GuHai/Wu Bin charcater. Regarding Su Yu character, I think Timmy has a definite edge, because of his sheer pissed off/ always annoyed portrayal
anyone here willing to give me spoilers about what comes in canon after what happened in ss1, please?
On the basis of the books--There is a long separation and time jump of several years. Book 2 opens on to both the boys now in their mid-late 20s , surprisingly, Wu Bi's character is a highly successful tech entrepreneur while Su yu caracter is a soldier/ an air force officer.... They meet and my God the angst, the sheer beautiful pain..... I hope they bring out a season 2, but I am scared they might not be able to legally, because the first season waseasy to mask the romance since they are teenagers ; how on earth will they mask the wild and painful love story of the book 2? The ending is very satisfying , though not before your heart will be torn to bits and you will bleed with these two characters
The hero of this show is the casting director. What an ethereal talented cast. Every character was thoughtfully picked up and not one bad performance. Truly a shining star amongst all the mundane Cdrama and K dramas
