This show is the reason Thailand should only make BLs... Even the worst BL is many times better than this regressive garbage. Women hitting each other, men brutalizing women, sexual violence, nymphomaniacs-- it had it all. Plus a story that belonged in the 1970s.
They are following according to the novel. Put and Phat do date for few months and when Jeng gets to know that…
Agree. The pacing is perfect for a relationship between a supervisor and employee. The relationship has an uneven power dynamic and Jeng's wait and watch approach is completely understandable. He cant afford to express his feelings and watch his carefully built up team crumble if Pat deosnt feel the same way. After all Jeng knows he might have to give up his ambition if he desnt deliver results by the year end. Also for Pat it is difficult to see Jeng as a man he could love because he practically hero worships Jeng. For him he is his feared but admired boss who is unattainable . Remember the earlier episodes when he doesnt know who Jeng is and is always hopeful of seeing him or running into him in the coffee shop-- at that time Jeng is a romantic interest for him. Once he knows he is the new boss, he puts him on a pedestal. The gradual progress is completely natural
Just meh. tried very hard to find the story lurking somewhere behind the gaping huge plot holes the size of Australia, but sadly it remained elusive. All this mayhem over students choice to wear uniforms? It might have served the story better if the main conflict was over accepting homosexuality-- which I believe is still a huge red flag for schools in Asia; certainly the right to wear non-uniform clothes is just too unimportant for school authorities to fume and rave and go so far as to almost kill people?
However I could still forgive the lack of story, if they hadnt gotten away with a massively sensitive concept like "outing a person's sexual orientation without consent" . Who on earth can excuse this? A child in the same situation as Akk might even be driven to suicide. Every basic alternative sexuality coda's first principle is "Not to OUT without consent" . And yet a BL proceeds to do this. Someone has to be held accountable for such a criminal act, right? And this from a team which actually says in Episode 10-11- "BL is the soft power for Thailand" .
I guess the director writer was inspired by Dead Poets Society of Robin Williams-- they tried hard to bring the temperament --but by God, where is the story.... Dead Poets Society was an uplifting movie which brought in so many issues and how teachers can remodel students..... such a long way to go for Thai BLs to make anything even vaguely as meaningful as Peter Wier's film
Why should Jae Won stoop to their level? He really couldn't care less about them now. Better to part civilly.…
That's a good take on Jaewon's post behavior. Actually a lot of tiny events during the last party support your view. He drinks with Taehyung for old time's sake and then unlike earlier when he would cling on to his friends despite the nastiness, he looks out for Ji Hyun and leaves Taehyung pretty unceremoniously to be with his lover. He doesnt defend Taehyung getting publicly humiliated by Bit Na. Yet he doesnt leave the party even though you can see he is dying to be with Ji Hyun alone, because it is the party for his true best friend. So what we see is Jaewon differentiating between deserving and undeserving people, which is directly tied to his self esteem. Previously he didnt consider himself good enough but Ji Hyun has helped restore the self love back to him I am actually more pleased by your insight than mine. The writer really thought things through. Bravo
Can the rating be a paltry 8.2 on the day they completed the series with such massive appreciation? Maybe not such a surprise as lately everything, every show and every comment on MDL gets filtered through the gender lens. Lets just appreciate arts and story for its own self, not through a political filter
But they tried to show that Jaewon 's niceness was a facade and deep inside he was hurting because he couldnt express his real emotions... The growth in his character arc should have made him express himself more clearly. Expected him to at least tell Taehyung that his nastiness was unacceptable. At least he managed to tell off eunji the truth
2gether.. a bromance?!?! wtf are y’all saying this shit was about as BL as it gets. I feel like after bright…
Its awesome that even though it is made in 2020 yet we call 2gether a classic. It just has that kind of classic and classy appeal.. Despite no skinship, it portrays the depth of love the two boys hold for each other... Its like we celebrate Casablanca for being a very romantic film despite zero physical contact .
This is such a love drenched yet dignified BL story. I get it people currently diss it because the two leads looked more like very very good friends, rather than lovers.... Despite almost zero x-rated scenes and hardly any skinship, the story and the characters convey the deep love and respect they hold for each other.
I believe Bright and Win actually had a non-skinship/no-kiss clause in their contract and I totally respect that. Every actor has the right to set his physical boundaries.... Actually in Bright & Win's case this no skinship clause has paid back rich dividends, because now they are not restricted to the BL genres. They both moved on to F4 ( which is a tremendous compliment to their craft as artists) and solo projects. I think as artists they are able to get much more exposure, because they did not act in a steamy BL and did not get identified with the genre
This is a show which you can watch only with logical part of your brain switched off, and then it is a hoot. Yet I keep thinking if the same dialogues forcing a non-consensual relationship were shown in a hetero relationship, between a male and female, there would be total outrage and offense. Sadly the consent issue hasn't reached BL dramas.. Wonder how many young boys are forced in real life into same sex relationships.
I watched it because I was bored and I'm soooooo glad I did. Just when I thought I couldn't enjoy one more college…
This is the most delicious ironical statement ever. Masterpiece series like Nitiman is matched by this masterpiece comment. Thank you for putting into words many of us feel!
The FL really was styled horribly. her large size suits and her one tone manly style detracted from her charm. She looked middle aged. Also the assymetry of her facial structure should be styled much better. The MLs were eye candy and the best characters were Oak and Poom. The rest behaved like entitled , spoilt brats. The story had more potential than they could develop forward. The child actors , esp younger Mook, acted much better than the older Mook.
Must watch for lakorn lovers. For veteran lakorn watchers Game Prattana is a breath of fresh air. The story steers clear of most tropes. It tells a complex tale which is modern, bright and without the hyperdrama of most Lakorns. The ML and FL do not start as lovers and scoff they could fall for each other, but once they do fall in love, stay completely committed to each other. They are very sorted and mature about each other; she decides to continue trusting him even when his ex-lover becomes a solid presence in his life; he, on the other hand prioritizes telling her the truth even when it implicates his own father. None of the old drama of misunderstandings and unnecessary break ups. They are remarkably open and expressive about their physical attraction like most young couples of today. Big kudos to the writer. Props to Nychaa for her super fun Milin and to Alek for his serious but engaging Anawin. Props to Pop for owning the last episode. Props to the BL couple for taking it slow and steady and looking very believable. Overall I consider this a triumph( despite some niggles), because someone actually made a lakorn that appears sane, modern and without any of the negative tropes that lakorns have come to be associated with.
I am sure I am being shallow, but the visible age gap made it an uncomfortable watch. Maybe it is the sensitization trainings and media coverage in the US where I live .
If the score for story and casting is 9, why on earth does the drama scores 5.5??
The story had a lot of promise. It was modern and had very relatable characters. Where it fell short IMHO is the central couple not having enough dramatic heft. It felt like the central character was living in a different time and era, their romance was subdued and timid. It would have worked as a side story. If either of the other two romances, which made people step out of their cubbyholes, re-evaluate their life choices and grow as individuals and couples- if either of the stories was the central story, it would have hung better as a whole. But thats just my opinion. I gave the story really high grading because cdramas seldom step out of their comfort zone of cold, rich CEOs and less successful girls. This story had characters which people (like me) sitting in the US can relate to (somewhat). I felt it was a more honest portrayal of life of 25+ year olds across the world.
Umm I liked the story, but it was racist in its dumping of an entire continent as if it was a single country. Hullo, people dont go to "Africa"; they dont get a visa to travel to "Africa". There are more than a score of countries within that continent and it would have shown a modicum of respect tp actually take the effort to identify a country. Next issue ... did they actually diss on Africa for "ebola virus"?? Surely the irony of it was not lost to the makers? The entire world has struggled for 2 years now thanks to a virus unleashed by China, but of course why not blame Africa for a completely controlled Ebola or West Nile virus. The Ebola virus has caused 28k deaths in all the years of its discovery till now while COVID 19 caused 5.3 million deaths. Also the complicity of any country has never been alleged in the case of Ebola or West Nile , but for COVID19, it is a matter of scientific investigation that the virus did arise from the Wuhan area. and spread due to lacklustre safety measures . Just as a matter of clarification, Africa as a populated continent had the least number of cases of COVID19. This kind of thoughtless attachment of blame is just pure and simple prejudice and hatred. We expect better from educated countries.

Indeed some of the Taiwanese actors speak really commendable English quite effortlessly, especially the singers. And most Thai actors speak really good English.

Lol this is such a brilliant comment.. I cringe when I hear the spoken English, especially because all their signage and T-shirt slogans and posters etc are in English. Its funny how they get the slang words like "Cool" and "Gotcha" right-- umm the power of English as a universal language. But spoken English is another matter.
