Read this novel twice and lived love he yan and her sweet naive innocence. Nowdays some filmmakers take the novel and kills the story and its essence in the drama. So despite living the novel so much, i choose not watch the drama . There many like me, transcend from the drama to novels only to line the novels more.
9.3 is well deserved rating. Lately I stopped watching k dramas due to violence and disturbing content. But in my heart, I as longing for a slice of life feel good Korean drama , like they used to be pre Netflix era. I have to admit this story was soulful and moving. I cried my heart out in a few scenes, me who have been hardened by my work and life all these years, I just started sobbing. Omg, the actors have basically lived their characters. It's so engaging and sucks you in right from the beginning. Imagine having husband like that! And the way they have done it in a non linear timeline was absolutely fantastic. Not many can pull it through and a small mistake it would end up as dissociative from the main story. This drama is one of its kind.
This drama, although just 4 episodes released so far is really good. Soulful and bring us back to the Korea of 1950es and 69es. The way they have portrayed Unflinching childhood love that transcends challenges and time is absolutely beautiful. No plastic faces here. Just pure talent. Missed park Bo gum and IU on screen. Hopefully this drama will earn them some awards. P/s some may think it's boring or draggy but that's the perk of slice of life dramas
Reading this novel now. Almost finishing. Carrying a lantern in daylight... very poignant. Especially Duan zus character. He's so selfless and loving. So much of sacrifice for his love. Really wish they would dramatise this well. Unlike how they have bugled lost you forever and the double, which were completely different from the original stories, they deviated a lot from the original story making me feel so disappointed. Hopefully they'll do justice to this beautiful poignant story.
As someone who have read the novel twice ( 1000 plus chapter), I'm extremely disappointed with this season 2. I waited nearly a year and what did I get? The original story line twisted in every way. They have cut many scenes. I understand the need, but it has caused the drama to be messed up. And the let where xioa yao met her parents was thoroughly underplayed. And they have skipped the time line a lot. Due to this many poignant heart touching scenes were skipped and the more I watched, the more disappointed I felt. After watching season 1, I had great hope that they'll follow the storyline closely. Not sure what the shit happened the season 2 is so messy and a great disappointment. Why the directors does this? They take a prefect beautiful story and add their own thoughts which are way more different. If that's the case then they shouldn't have said that they're filming the so and so story. The same thing goes to the drma the double. They changed the whole concept of the story and I felt so very disappointed . Sorry to say, I can understand why the ratings are much lower compared to season 1. They have really messed it up.
Cinematography is eye-catching and acting is good so far, especially both ML and FL using their own voice which…
The novel was so good and poignant. Especially when she meet her father and brother. Those scenes when she recalls her former life with her ex husband. It was angry and so full of betrayals. Looking at the first episode of the drama, I'm not sure how are they going justify certain turn of events. As an avid novel reader, I can't help but feel disappointed.
I've read the book. It was completely different than what being portrayed especially the beginning. However acting wise and cinematography is good. Can say the best in recent times. But Ive decided to skip since they've changed the most important aspect of the story. So how are they going to justify their relationship? In which way? Must wait and see.
Guess it's loosely based on the book. Hope they've done justice to the story. The novel was really poignant, angsty and full of treachery. Zu fang fei was such a pitiful character.
I read the translated version of this drama. Was good. Full of angst and betrayals. Hopefully they have done justice to the story. The emotional scenes when she discover her father and brother are good. The relationship between them was enviable. The scene where she finally revealed her stepmother's bad deeds were really good. I sincerely hope they stick to the book.
The best in recent times. I started to feel good dramas like ten miles peach blossom, till the end of the moon and back from the brink will never come again. So glad I decide to watch this . Man, I just binge watched it all. A amazing cast and crews. Brilliant actors who never did an ounce of over acting or cringey. Wonderfully backgrounds and cathchy OST/ background music. The most beautiful part is the ending. In recent times, cdramas are obsessed with tragic or cliffhangers. But this was beautiful and I wished their life story will go on. Both the actors have done their best in their parts. Their roles were completely justified. I've never seen this male lead although I'm an avid cdrama fan. Hoping to see him in more dramas after this. I'm sad it ended. Both the leads were dignified, solemn and I really loved the way how their love evolve slowly. And those subtle jealousies by the male lead. All very well done. The fights were good. The CGI Were much convincing. Haishh will we ever get another like this again??
Zi Yu is such a pure and innocent character. It’s rare to find someone with such a good heart. I really hope Wei shan won’t hurt him in any way. That she’ll protect him and help him to be a great leader. Looks like she’s beginning to fall in love with him. But her character is too complex and complicated with Wufeng that we’ll never know what she’ll do. At this point I’m not expecting a happy ending. It could be open ending or sad.
The sister really lights up the screen whenever she comes. At first it was cringeworthy, but now she’s the saving grace, the one who makes this intensely dark drama palatable.
Their hearts connected and were beating in tandem. When one was down, the other silently cheered it up. Taking strength from the other to go on and never to feel lonely. It’s complicated, one XY refused to delve deeper, but never platonic.
Husbands are so overrated, amirite? All that paperwork in case of a divorce. Just kidding lol (here comes the…
Errm I’m a happily married woman to a man exactly similar to jing in character and nature 😀 a gentle loving soul. But I got your point. A husband is a husband and a soulmate is something special.
Don’t thank me. Grandfather and I tried countless times to bring Xiang Liu to our side and I even gave him carte blanche to name his terms. But he would never abandon or betray Gong Gong. Actually all this time it’s not I who wouldn’t stop, it’s him who wouldn’t stop. If he vows to fight to the death then there is nothing I can do, I can’t sacrifice Ru So and the soldiers. His life is a life but so are the lives of those fighting for me.”
Zhuan Xu softly spoke to all his relatives “I’m sorry, I can’t keep my promise from that day anymore. I need to let another man take care of our Xiao Yao now! His name is Tu Shan Jing and he is kind and more clever than anyone. He is also completely devoted to Xiao Yao. Handing her to his care will not disappoint you guys, so please be assured!”

One the Brother, One the Husband and the other the Soulmate.
