wow! the comment section under this one is quite a feast!
in any case, a 10/10 for me. The subject may not be everyone's cup of tea but the drama is very well put together nonetheless.
I'm hoping this drama will make a turn for the better cause Kamiki is the only good in this drama..
You're making this something that it is not.
Originally, I was reacting to Kagurazaka's comment, which sounded narrow-minded to me, like she was commenting on a fish that lives in the sea as if it lived in an aquarium.
Of course that cultural backgrounds shape us, but a) it is not the only thing that shapes us and b) some cultural aspects around the world can be in its core very similar.
That's all have to say to this. Your points are all valid, but spilling out of the bowl.

@xoxo "Japanese people don't want to feel alone and out-sided" sounds like a prejudice to me. Is this trait something that would be limited ONLY to the Japanese? No.
What you guys are saying is not wrong, but you make it all sound so black and white.
I'm hoping this drama will make a turn for the better cause Kamiki is the only good in this drama..
@Kagurazaka what moved me is the way you put it. "with Japanese culture tbh xD"
is that sarcasm or...well if that's what taught at schools, whatever. I'm not gonna argue with you.

nice stale prejudices you have there, read it 19 century baedeker or what
it's the same as saying that Muslims are terrorists and Americans are fat idiots.
please stop thinking about people in terms of "culture" whatever that is supposed to mean and realize that everybody is the same ordinary human being just like you and me, we can be cowards, we can be violent, whatever, and "culture" makes up only minor details. Pray before eating? Take your shoes off? Chopsticks or a fork? etc.
people are the same everywhere on the planet, every country has its share of shy, courageous, stupid, clever, fat, skinny and whatnot, so just please stop with culture bulls***
Oh great, then then this one might be for you. If you're looking for something different, then I'd suggest 2 directors, Kim Ki-duk for S. Korea (I'd recommend to start with a film called 3-Iron, my fav is also Samaritan Girl) and Sion Sono for Japan (usually very intense and gory films, for starters, I'd suggest Love Exposure, it's not bloody so rather an exception, but one of my favs of all time). Also, maybe a Hong Kong director Wong Kar Wai, though his films are more calm but so beautifully done. Try for example the classic In The Mood for Love.
Hmm, do you know the book (No Longer Human by Osamu Dazai)? The film is an accurate rendition of the somewhat dark and existentialist book, so unless you're a fan of people like Camus or Sartre, it may seem a bit boring.
well, if you want to watch it because of Toma, go ahead because, not that I understand acting or anything, but I think he did a good job.
Time passes insanely quickly here. Let's just sit, drink tea and talk for 4 days. I love you but I don't love you!! Ugh, I need to run! Hora, chase after me!! Let's leave a dead body lying by what looks like a viewpoint to a pretty waterfall. My car keys are gone but never mind, I don't care. I need to be angry and scared.
..
This drama has no logic.
