People weren’t hating. For some it was because she didn’t have meaningful screentime and others because it was refreshing to have a different kind of female character. Most of the comments weren’t hating?
To those saying FX is not being is usual intelligent self compared to the books…
I feel maybe the writers wanted a contrast to season 1. He was a smartass and new to this environment and so people were lax with him, even the emperor.
This season he is learning that being just smart won’t cut it; there are rules and customs to aide by whilst playing this “game” in the capital. We see it firsthand with old Lai who was stuck in his ways. The Emperor and others to a lesser extent are trying or forcing him to be different or moulded into their own version of what he should be.
Judging by what others have said about the novel, season 3 should be about him reaching the end of his limit/what he can take in this corrupt and evil environment before he can finally settle on his true self.
This actually translates very welder tv as others have said the novel is big and complicated.
Fan Xian looked so manly and hot in episode 11, when giving orders. Especially when he took his apron off!
He would make a good Emperor. Speaking of, why does the Emperor care if FX prays to his legal dad’s descendants? Is it taboo if you’re not blood related? I like Fan Jian’s response though.
Crown prince might actually be more evil than Second Prince. Second Prince strangely has twisted set of morals. He sticks to his promises. It seems like he is one of the few people that know Fan Xian well.
But it makes me laugh how obsessive they are over FX. Second prince saying he doesn’t care about anything else only FX and Crown Prince admitting to his mother he really likes FX.
Haha when Yuan Zhou said he remembered details of the map and Ruyi smiled, she must definitely thinking that his good memory would be a good attribute for their child😂😂😂.
Also they are already getting some practise being parents via the Princess. When she fainted after killing the guard, they looked like parents comforting their child.
Maybe it’s just me but I really like the sister. There’s something captivating about her/the actress too. Yes she was unnecessarily rude to her brother instead of confronting the person she really had issues with (her dad) however she had valid issues. I guess I really like dark/complex characters. If there was a second season I would like it to focus on her and her brothers relationship as well as her son. And her finding love with a sweet, calm guy to balance her out; that would be really fun!
Erm … question… after the kiss when XY asked when they would do it, she meant kiss right? Anyways whatever meaning that was ,that was a shock but in a good way as she’s taking the lead and 17 is letting her. I think as of now there are in the stages of puppy love before they truly fall in love so it’s all cute and innocent and butterflies. On the OTHER HAND, as of now she feels infatuation and sexual desire for XL. Like a moth to a flame she’s drawn to him. Her literal twin flame. Btw Xuan’s micro expressions are sooo good, not only attractive but can act really well. It was also cute when he was flirting/talking with Shennong. It’s also kind of sad he says she only likes him because he is prince. She liked him before that but obviously it would be hard for her to marry him.
This drama is shining because of the actors. I really wish it had the production value like Love Like the Galaxy and Luoyang then it would be an all rounder. The lighting of the actors is very distracting sometimes.
Edit: oh I see you mentioned Viki.
They changed it to only have family there. FX and his dad discussed this.
Wasn’t she brought up in the palace compared to the son who he raised and saw almost everyday?

How is the relationship between Wan Er and her mother throughout the book?
Her mother keeps trying to kill and trouble Fan Xian. What a mom!

He also didn’t have any issue killing his loyal guards when Fian Zian thought they would be merely arrested until he came back.
I hope she gets a happy ending as the adoptive mother to the prince who ends up as king.
If the fl gets to be queen, this whole show was for nothing.
