Let’s be real here: the drama is off to a good start because the leads are actually ACTING, they are committed, are not trying to look pretty all the time; they are becoming their characters. That is why it is important to chose the actors wisely.

“they are doing what the script and director require of them to do?”sure, but the ACTING plays a huge part in BECOMING the character. Do you think that the actress with the flowers/ornaments in her hair and her red makeup - who shall not be named - would be able to deliver and become the character?

“A particular A-list actor” are you sure he is A-list? or a traffic actor?

From what I understand, A-listers in China tend to mostlys play in movies, are picky when it comes to the script and rarely starred in romantic drama series, although we were lucky to have Chang Chen and Ni Ni (movie stars) starred in the Love & Destiny series.

In the novel, although he does a lot of questionable things to the and abuses her, she never hates him and even falls in love with him. Most of the time, she’s just trying to avoid him as he has a bad temper. So far, the drama has been better and I hope she won’t fall easily in love with him. We shall see
