It is kinda of hard to watch it as a bro and sis drama when they have them sitting by a tree, on a moonlight night, her hugging her and him holding her with a romantic music playing in the background. lol

I also wanted to add that the husband was terrible! He got that low-born Qiao woman pregnant and made her his concubine to avoid the scandal. He then started giving concubine Qiao preferential treatment over his main life, Madam Gu, a wife who came from a good family and had brought him a massive dowry. Madam Gu was also depressed when she left for the temple.

I explained it more in detail a few comments below. In brief, I was referring to the interaction that the fl had with the sml when they were playing chess at ep 19. She told him that his Mei Mei was her maid and that she died and blamed him for it, and he replied by saying “impossible” “she’s alive”, without addressing the elephant in the room and asking the right questions. For example, why do you think I cause her death? The fl also does not wonder about this behaviour: why is he looking for her when he tried to kill her? why is he reacting this way today? The whole interaction was weak and contradictory.

The ml being so obsessed with the fl is not as convincing as it is in the novel where she was his lawfully bedded wife whom he loved dearly. The fl would have likely stayed with him if she didn’t mistake him for being her killer when she was reborn.

So of course when he finds out the truth about her in novel, he wants her back because she is HIS wife. He is living in the past but the fl has already moved on. She also feels guilt for blaming him.

Both the ml and the sml are red flags in the novel to be honest lol

Watched 20 episodes: I was so happy when the ml topped the exam! I actually started clapping. It is refreshing to see a ml and fl that are so in sync with each other since day 1. Looking forward to how they will make the transition and praying that it’ll be organic and not rushed. Not gonna lie, I am liking this drama more than a lot that came out in 2024, like AYTO and The Double

The fl sees the ml as her brother but you are her conscious. Well done!

Thank you!!! I am so tired of his storyline with the fl. The whole misunderstanding could have been cleared if they asked the right questions. They are intelligent and analytical people but their interaction in ep 19 was weak and so contradictory to them being smart and analytical. I stopped caring about this plotline.

How did this ambiguous era started a long time ago when the fl has been thinking and treated her brother as a sibling the entire time (I have not yet watched ep 21-22). Sure the ml knows the truth but the fl does not. Even in ep 20, she was talking about his marriage to another woman and that she would be a good sister in law. She has giving us nothing yet.

We needed to have a drunk scene with them sitting by a tree on a moonlight night, her falling on him, him holding her and her saying “I want to be with you forever…” with the romantic soundtrack playing in the background? Now that we have seen this personal evolution, let’s move the story along.

Don’t get me wrong, I am enjoying this drama A LOT and I think the leads have great chemistry but I am ready for the next phase in their relationship. They are so many things that happens in the novel, and I am afraid they will rush things and the transition won’t be as smooth. BUT, I will try to trust the process.

I get it, they support, trust and love each other (as siblings, atleast for her), but I don’t need to see her drunk, them sitting by a tree at night, her falling on him, him holding her and her saying “I want to be with you forever”; “In our next lives, we must be siblings again.

We are getting closer to the half point mark with only 21 episodes left to make the transition from her seeing him as a sibling to lover, and based on previews 21-22, the truth has still not yet been revealed.

Sure the fl is cute, but I find this whole scene weird. lol

Thanks for taking the time to comment and explain. While I understand the situation, I still find the whole exchange between them at ep 19 to be weak. They are supposedly intelligent and analytical people and when someone (fl) throw accusations at you, you (sml, who is supposedly very smart) address them and try to
make sense as to why she thinks that and explain your side/pov, especially when you have your suspicions that she may well be your mai mai. You don’t just respond to accusations with “impossible”; “she’s alive,” without addressing the elephant in the room!

Also, the fl spent time with the sml and she may have liked him at some point so why would she readily believe the fiancé? wouldn’t she be curious as to his motive for wanting her dead? why believe the fiancé over someone you interacted with and liked? why not take a step back and analyze the situation as the math don’t add up? For instance, why is he looking for his Mei Mei that he tried to kill her? why is he reacting this way today?

I find their whole interaction frustrating and contradictory. I don’t even care about this plotline anymore as a simple talk and them asking the right questions could have clear the misunderstandings. I guess, the writers want to drag this further. I am starting to dislike their interactions more and more.
