Ok, so to be honest this was horrible acting and storyline, I did enjoy some actors but wow disappointed with…
Oh? I thought the acting was fine 😅 i liked the main leads.. Maybe the villains sometimes? (i sometimes thought the evil laughing was kinda silly lol tho it was tagged as slight comedy).. The storyline tho wasn't perfect but most bls storyline is eh

Title Love in the Big City Spoiler
Idk how to really express my thoughts about this drama cuz idk how to write a good review lol, but all i can say is it's as an interesting story, made me laugh and cry, the acting feels so natural, definitely not a typical romance "BL" so I think it should be watched with a different view/expectations. It focuses more on the main character and his journey and experiences such as with his family, friends, and his past relationships rather than focusing only on a main couple's romance, so it has a kinda unsatisfying/unfulfilling ending romance-wise wc some viewers may find disappointing.

What I personally liked was how we saw that in Go Young's past relationships (the 3 focused in the drama) he experienced different perspectives. First, receiving affection but being a coward to truly commit to it (the photographer), second is the opposite where he was the one getting serious enough that he almost introduce his bf (the researcher) to his mom but this time it's the other party who was a coward. And lastly he met Gyu Ho, one of the love he found in the big city but who i want to believe is his "true" love (bc go young kept thinking of his memories with gyu ho despite them not together anymore and while with being with another person, which i don't think he did as much with his 2 exes?). They felt both "equal" in their relationship. Gyu Ho loved go young but not too much (unlike the 1st bf), and he was willing to commit (unlike the 2nd bf). He accepted everything about go young, including "Kylie" (you'll understand if you watch the drama), and although it wasn't easy but it was quite obvious he wanted to stay by go young's side for a long time. Yet unfortunately despite his past experiences, go young still doesn't know what love is and takes gyu ho for granted, which he then regrets a little too late. So the ending feels a bit open ended.. It makes you wonder, is it really the end? Will they ever meet again and reconnect (tbh it's the ideal "happy" end that i wish for these characters)? Or is gyu ho going to be go young's last "real" love and he'll end up lonely for the rest of his life? (a sadder, but more realistic ending). But i guess we probably won't know. Like real life, we just never know where it leads to.

Litbc was definitely an eye-opener (especially about the experiences of an lgbtq+ character) and I think it's a good story, so i appreciate it more as a fictional media rather than as a "bl" since it feels more realistic thus less of an "escape fantasy" which what i usually expect to feel when going to watch bls. It would have been interesting to see from gyu ho's perspective tho, but anyways... I probably don't consider it as a personal fave bl, but it's a 9/10 for me.

Guys this does not even have a bad or sad ending? The main character just does not end up with his lover and only…
I guess it depends on how you see it, but i see your point. It doesn't feel like a sad/painful ending but it's not super "happy" either. Maybe more like open ending?

I liked it! It's so fun to watch (at least for me). I thought type of characters like Ryo-kun is refreshing to see in Japanese bls plus the dynamic with a puppy-like ml is my thing so...

Title Smells Like Green Spirit Spoiler
I didn't read the manga and the last ep's subs were horrible 🥲 can you tell me what happened to Kirino in the…
If i remember right both drama and manga had the same ending. Basically after Kirino got the call about his mom getting sick, he decided to choose a different path from Mishima, which was why he returned Mishima's lipstick and why Mishima was emotional when they parted ways. He stopped being friends/hanging out with Mishima and Yumeno and chose to live the "normal" life to make his mother happy. That means he gave up his dreams and his real self as a gay/trans person and got married and had a child. Meanwhile, Mishima lived as his true self and got together with Yumeno.

I just recently watched this.. I never cried so hard bc of a japanese bl(?) drama ever (except maybe the final ep of smells like green spirit tho the pain from this drama is probably deeper).. I really like this despite that.. I also had a few laughs bc of how absurd the situation was.. Props to the actors as well, they're really good 😭

The manga was one of the bl(?) stories that really broke my heart bc of the different endings for the two friends/main characters, and I think the adaptation did a pretty good job of bringing the original story to life (and yes I still cried during the ending). It's not an easy read/watch tho, as it contains heavy themes wc the live action didn't shy away from. Not to mention how the actors did a good job (esp. Yanagida's like mygosh he's still as creepy and pitiful in the live action), as some scenes were most likely not easy to shoot/get into emotionally and mentally.

I know it's been three years, but I'm still hoping for a season 2...
Maybe it's still possible, there's a manga of this right? Plus it's not impossible for japanese bls to have sequel season after many years (like ossan's love)
On My Love Mix-Up! Nov 23, 2024
After rewatching this i get reminded once again how fun this show was.. Not just coz of the main couple but also the side-couple (non-BL). Is there any other japanese bl drama set in high school that's like this? Like good mix of romance and comedy and some heartwarming moments.

I love this season so much! It was such a long time since I saw the first season and movie.. I think this season…
Also, while this feels like a fitting good-bye/wrap up for the whole Ossan's Love series, I hope ithis isn't the end :( bc I couldn't get enough of Haruta and Maki huhuhu and maybe more of Izumi and Kiku.

Title Ossan's Love Returns Spoiler
I love this season so much! It was such a long time since I saw the first season and movie.. I think this season really developed Maki and Haruta's relationship and even Chief Kurosawa as well as both Haruta and Maki's relationships with each other's parent/s. Choko-san and Chizu-san, though not as prominent, also had developments in their own stories. The second couple wasn't really my favorite characters but I thought they were a cool addition to the characters as well as something a bit different from the overall comedic tone of the series. There were some times when I thought Takegawa-san was getting a bit annoying but fortunately by the end he has found his own peace(?). Overall a really enjoyable follow-up for Ossan's Love (2018)!

They changed the ML halfway through the drama? So who replaced Na In Woo?
I know this is very late so I'm really sorry for not replying much later. Actually it's the other way around, Na In Woo replaced the original actor (Jisoo) because of a controversy the original actor had.
On Na In Woo Mar 21, 2024
Person Na In Woo
Only seen 3 dramas starring mr. Na In Woo and so far, he seems to be quite a versatile actor. Though I did like his portrayal of the stoic character Jihyuk, I think I prefer seeing him play more emotionally expressive characters (like the hot-headed Detective Oh or the simple-minded but capable warrior Ondal). Manifesting him in a super evil villain role tho, I think he'll suit it well.

It's interesting how we have opposite opinions, as the words you used to describe the final ml's acting are what…
I think I do get your point that the directors/production have a big role to ensure the actors are filling their roles properly. But I think aside from the director/crew, the actors themselves also have some control/say on how the scene may play out. From what I remember on the behind clips of the last drama I watched (marry my husband), the main actors had some inputs/adlibs and suggestions on how a scene plays out. Park min young even directed her co actors for some of their scenes so it would result to more effective product. I'm not sure if it's the same case in this drama, but in my opinion I prefer the change (after recently seeing a side by side comparison video of a few scenes). I don't think the first actor was bad, but I think the second actor fits the character more. Even removing bias since I'm more familiar with na in woo, I still do think Ondal fits him appearance-wise and personality-wise. It's hard to explain but it just clicks for some reason.
Edit: I also forgot to clarify by what I mean I prefer is how the actor interpreted the character, because I think every actor will have their own take on a certain character. Some may prefer one over the other, but I think it still depends on which one will click with the viewer.
