I liked reading your article, it has always been my stance to view movie productions from the thoughts of that era. Very few productions are actually timeless and remain relevant regardless of how much time has passed.

I have never watched Empress Ki but regarding birth and it's science, while it may be true that humans did not know how women became pregnant, they knew that sex lead to it. There has been evidence for breeding animals much earlier than 1875; not just animals, even hybrid plants have been grown much before 1875. While humans didn't know about the sperm/egg science of it, the fact that sex leads to pregnancy should have been known to Empress Ki 😂

But then maybe the knowledge hadn't been passed to her by her mother and family, pregnancy and sex has always been a taboo topic.
