That's incorrect. Hiro says he's in 8th grade which would make him 14 years old. Kai being 11 seems accurate, though. He looks about 15 when he starts working at the restaurant, so 6 years later would make him 21, and Hiro 24. So it's probably a 3-year age gap.

The scene where Hira calls him back is technically there, but it's not super obvious. After Hira is brought to a sick Koyama at the end of episode 4, you see Kiyoi's phone ringing on his bag in the corner of the room.

Two additions I did like are Kiyoi turning to look in Hira's direction in the hallway after he loses the contest, and Hira taking the flask of coins out of the box in his room in episode 4 before he looks at his pictures of Kiyoi.

But overall, what they added does not compensate for what they cut out. :(

Exactly. I think that was the change I disliked the most. If someone hasn't seen the original version, they don't know if Hira is telling the truth when he tells Kiyoi he changed his number because of water damage.

Also, I didn't like that they cut out Kiyoi calling Hira a stalker in front of Koyama from Kiyoi's perspective, because I really like the part where Kiyoi goes "I could see the fervor growing in Hira's eyes".

And yeah, I also liked the scenes better with the "Follow" BGM. There's lots of other scenes that they made silent as well and it felt kind of strange.

I bought the Blu-ray.

If you buy the First Press Limited Deluxe Edition of the movie, it comes with an extra box to put both seasons and the movie in. You have to buy them all separately but it's better than nothing, lol.

Really a downgrade from the original version. The small additions are not worth everything that was cut out.

Exactly how I feel. The Jun & Jun scenes were good but the rest was kind of mediocre because of the dialogue and how everything was edited.
