Yes, he did actually hate Uk for that. That’s why he told her he was greatly offended that he could have something he wanted, and that she and Uk should go somewhere far away out of his sight. S that’s why he OKd Jin Mu plan to bring Jang Uk down, not knowing it involved bringing back Naksu/MD. He bears the guilt for destroying UKs quiet retreat from the spotlight out of pettiness, but is in denial about his responsibility in it.

He is a good person, but is undone by his pettiness and insecurity. Uk never threatened his dignity or power.
