As far as I know Lan Jue had a son in novel. I think they just mentioned it in drama because of censorsship

First I thought it's because of cenzorship but later I realised in novel leads were siblings so if there was any stronger bromance between them people could not like it. I feel there is bromance but not between main leads.

They both grow and change during the drama :)

I felt like his Master knew that something threatened to his beloved student and he went there on purpose to save Zhang Ping. But trute, he didn't deserve this ending :(

True, it's open ending I could say. I am pretty sure he died but we didn't see that. He just walked into red mist. So if there was any continuation Shulin could be back. Let's not forget he was studying medicine and saved already Lan Jue and Zhang Ping.

Shulin planned to resign from being emperor so that could cause riots. The only way was to lie about his orgin. It's nice growth of Zhang Ping who was always righteous because he chose peoples live over the truth.

Yes, The Ying Yang Master and in plans there is drama Bloody Romance. His growth is really stunning :) Watching asian film industry I think main factor of choosing actors and actress is appearance but Wang Duo is so freaking talented!

Poor GuQing, he drunk poison for his friend who wanted to commit a suicade, it was so hearbreaking to watch...
He never had anyone who truly loved him and he found his safety with Lan Jue. They both seeked vegance but one of them came to senses on time while the other let revenge blind his eyes... Maybe because Lan Jue had true friends and Gu Qing was alone :(
Everyone changed and everyone learnt the lesson, even the Empress in the very end seemed to regreat a little bit.
