Great Drama!
This is a great drama that focuses on the schemes and machinations behind rising to power as a crown princess. As a consort, the FL spent ten years carefully strategizing in order to become a favored consort. Many viewers did not enjoy the story because they were expecting a fairy tale love between a princess and a prince. They wanted a princess who was strong in a more romanticized way, but they forget that this is a story set in a dynasty where power and survival mattered most. For me, the FL was strong in the way that truly reflected her time. I loved her lines when she spoke about being a mastermind, but reminding everyone that without power it still amounts to nothing. I also appreciated the ending, especially the conversation between her subordinates when they wondered what it would be like if she had chosen to become a female emperor. If that storyline ever continued, it is exactly what I would love to see as well.
