The amount of engagement around this show is quite something, specially for a cdrama. I mean, in terms of current viewers, its competing with the currently top watched Kdrama (only a few hundred fewer viewers but both over 12,000), which is something I have never seen on this site.

Knowing what she likes and she doesn't, I was not at all surprised by her rant against the show. It does have some production issues, and the story also has issues, though not enough issues obviously to prevent the public from eating the show up.

That is so obnoxious and toxic of the fans - leave people be. Bai Lu clearly is friends with Luo Yunxi, so why try to break up her relationships?

No, she does not always get dubbed, but she did get dubbed here.

It is the same fantasy genre, but it is much darker and more intense.

Hopefully Story of Kunning Palace will also see success. It would be lovely for Bai Lu to be appreciated for the great actress she is.

She also needs to do comedy. The woman in real life never stops laughing.

The costuming and makeup really bring out her beauty - not that she ever looks not beautiful in any of her roles.

Bai Lu really needs to be in comedic roles - she is a born comedienne.

The leads in the show are fantastic actors both.

I have liked Luo YunXi for some time as an actor, and honestly, given his angular face, it is impossible for me to confuse him with anyone else.

As for Bai Lu, love her work and commitment to acting, love her personality and how it shines in variety shows and BTS material, and it saddens me that fan culture in China is so toxic that she gets so much hate. Also, I find it insane that anyone would comment negatively on the looks of what I think is one of the most gorgeous Chinese actresses working currently.

For me, Song of Youth, Untouchable Lovers, and King is Not Easy make more sense to be on the list, both because some of these haven't even aired, but because for some of these shows, while Bai Lu is a main actress, they are really ensemble shows and her part is more limited. She is supporting character in Untouchable Lovers, but a really important one.

Yes. her, Cheng Xiao and Meng Mei Qi were the three Chinese members of WSJN. All three have essentially left the group. They haven't done any promotions with the group since 2018.

I had previously said that I didn't know if they could tie it all up in the last two episodes, but they did. The story had a satisfying ending, if sad, and some of the revelations at the end were well done and not what I had expected, which was a nice surprise.

Overall, a great show.

I like how reasonable and grounded the characters are, and even with the fantastical elements, they have kept the story grounded. That said, I feel 12 episodes might not be enough to reach a satisfactory conclusion...and I also have a sense I know where the main mystery is going, and would be happy if they didn't go the more obvious route with the story.

The disconnect between the people still posting tepid or negative reviews and the fact that, months and many reviews later the score remains over 9, is funny to watch.

No one in the news in South Korea mentioned it because it is a non-issue for anyone but knetizens and people like you, which is my entire point. You are vastly inflating the importance of this announcement, and the notion the show would be banned is patently absurd. In fact, I will definitively state here: no, this show won't be banned, it won't be pulled from any South Korean media, and certainly it will have no effect on its continued popularity on Netflix.

Jesus, NO. You are being silly. If MNet's rigging of votes in the four seasons of the Produce series, which led to thousands of complaints, leads to just a fine, the notion you are trying to spin, that somehow the show will be banned, is beyond farcical.

Oh please. If you read the Broadcast Act, link below, the worse that can happen is fines imposed, and points against TvN when it goes to renew its license, which means nothing since TvN is owned by one of the biggest Chaebols in South Korea. People love inflating controversies like this.
