I'm actually in the same boat as you. I would love to see him in a romance drama since he is best suited for it.…
Afaik, people criticize him for his "pretty boy" image and wooden acting in FWOMH, claiming it's just fan service. I agreed with them regarding the wooden acting, but only for a few scenes. FWOMH is still my personal favorite. IMO, he isn't built for aggressive or villainous roles, which still shows in ZZA. If you're rewatching or watching WRTW for the first time, enjoy it! It's his best drama after YAMG/GOTSF imo.
He definitely suits romance and comedy best. In one ZZA episode, I caught a glimpse of Yi Xiao Nai He role, which was nostalgic and really suits his acting. ZZA is good if you like gritty political/court affairs. I noticed some romantic chemistry, but thier interviews and comments speculate it's just brotherhood... I almost dropped it because of that and etc, but Yang Yang’s performance in this genre is keeping me watching for now.
Sorry for yapping! He didn't specifically mention it, but judging by his recent ZZA interviews, I think he wants to take on other roles and genres besides romance. This makes me think he doesn't want to do romance dramas for the time being to lessen the rumours/gossips. His later reply gave me hope, but it could just be me overthinking it.
seems like he doesn’t like doing romantic dramas alot he’s literally romantic drama material 😭what a loss
I'm actually in the same boat as you. I would love to see him in a romance drama since he is best suited for it. I've waited for ZZA for what feels like ages, wishing it would have romance, (I hadn't read any comments or news about the drama before the airing), but from what I'm seeing now, ZZA won't have romance either, which is so sad.
However, after reading comments on Weibo and elsewhere, it seems like he mostly gets a lot of criticism of the drama with his female leads especially after the FWOMH incident. I think he might steer clear of romance dramas just to avoid this kind of gossip in the future, which is really unfortunate. It looks like his upcoming drama which was tricked into and ZZA won't have any romance either. Right now, the closest thing I'm looking forward to is TIA Season 2. I'm a big fan of the Donghua, but the romance there is basically non-existent anyway, considering they cut most of it out in Season 1
YES! Can't wait to see Mo Caihuan as Wang Ning again (Zi Ling)
1. Unfortunately, no. Even as she got older, her face was completely different from MCH's. My nitpick in the donghua was when they first introduced WN as a teenager; her face looked so 3D and cartoonish because her eyes were so big that they looked fake. However, as she grew older, she became nice to look at.
2. I'm not sure if they decided to cast a different actress for this drama other than Zhao Qing. However, since they never showed MCH dying of sickness in the last episode, I'm assuming they might keep Zhao Qing as Wang Ning (Face can still look familiar since WN is reincarnate of MCH). I am really hoping they will keep Zhao Qing as WN since I enjoyed her acting as MCH. Most of us already love MCH and know that Han Li could never be with her because she is a mortal. If they decide to renew the IP or create another season, the viewers who are rooting for Han Li and MCH (reincarnated as Wang Ning), and who have already developed an affection for Zhao Qing, would get to see them together at the end of the series. This would provide a perfect closure or boost the episode rating, at least imo
If my theory is correct, it would reward the fans who have been hoping for Han Li and MCH to end up together. For example :
1. Emotional Closure: It would give viewers who were rooting for Han Li and MCH the happy ending they couldn't get in the first season.
2. Increased Ratings: Bringing back a beloved actress and resolving a fan-favorite relationship is a well-known strategy for boosting viewership and generating positive buzz for a new season.
YES! Can't wait to see Mo Caihuan as Wang Ning again (Zi Ling)
Hopefully, they will announce season 2 or hopefully, it will be renewed. There are many side characters that are my favorites in the donghua, such as Xuan Gu (Bone Sage) and Feng Xi (Demon Beast)
The last episode was a good ender for this season. It's open-ended as well. Also, I just saw the end credits, and they mentioned 'End of Season 1,' which made me happy to see it might be renewed with another season until this IP concludes, even though it might be a long wait.
damn i want season 2 now! read somewhere YY signed a three year contract for this series. going to be a long wait.…
Really? Can you possibly find the source and put it here? I just saw the end credits, and they mentioned 'End of Season 1,' which made me happy to see it might be renewed with another season until this IP concludes, even though it might be a long wait.
Of course, Han Li is her first and only love, but it's sad.😭
Try to relate her sentence in episode 5 where shes asks hanli to keep the sunwarm jade and what she told her mother about it. Then try to relate back your own sentence. Its deep. Shes Loyal to Hanli. One and only.
Please. I don't think this release will cover everything sadly. I just hope this series gets a good reception and rating to keep the investors and audiences happy, and then hopefully it will get renewed until the whole series concludes. I would love to see all my favorite characters/side characters from the donghua appear in the adaptation.
She is a great character and felt she will be a good support and partner for HanLi…but she is mortal and he…
Agree with your point as they both shares the similar personality. However, You get to see her in the donghua, but for the adaptation, I'm not sure if they will renew the series. I would love to see the whole story in the adaptation. Donghua + Adaptation would be the perfect wrap for the series, for me.
I love Miss Mo so much why she is not the Main FL 💔💔.. ep 16 😔🙃
Right? I love her so much in the Donghua, and now I get to see who's acting as Mo Caihuan in the live adaptation. The situation just made me even sadder. In my opinion, I just love Mo Caihuan more than Nangong Wan, to be honest. Nevertheless, I still root for Mo Caihuan, knowing how she ended up.
In short, without spoiling too much, Hanli is a weak and slow cultivator because he has a false spiritual root.…
Good info. I've only watched up until episode 5 for now and will watch it in one go when it reaches episode 15+. It pains me waiting for 1-2 episodes per day xD
Please can someone explain? In most series the protagonist is obviously struggling to develop, but ultimately…
In short, without spoiling too much, Hanli is a weak and slow cultivator because he has a false spiritual root. However, his luck and diligence help him through his journey toward immortality(Main point). Additionally, the weapons he acquires from fighting enemies are put to use, at least in the donghua version
Appreciate the share. Interesting to think of the different emotional effects of the artforms (donghua, novel,…
You're welcome. It's wild how different art forms affect me. Even though this drama is still ongoing, I find myself desperately hoping for its renewal for additional seasons, though I suspect the chances are slim. I just expressing my thoughts in the hope they might reach someone who could facilitate more seasons until the series concludes.
**Potential Spoiler**
To be honest, there are many side characters I really love. They made you feel immersed and build relationships with the characters, especially in the donghua. However, it never ends well for them. I'm curious to know which actor would portray my favorite side character if another season were to happen. I wish I could see them in action

Edit - Nvm, I found it. In case someone is searching for the same song, it's called (一页诗 by Zhang Yuan)
