finished watching the drama + spin off and it was alright, some loose ends really bugs me tho
like who the heck trapped sonoko in that closet? they made it pretty clear it wasnt king
also sonoko journalist colleague suddenly getting a girlfriend in spinoff after showing that creepy behaviour in the series just so that we doubt him feels really cheap
yknow i was enjoying dame mane very much as an episodic series with great stand alone stories, i expected the overarching narrative to be just servicable, with an ending just a bit more intense than the rest, like many dramas
but dame mane last ep had no business being THIS GOOD
the episode gave sense to many things you expected to be left unexplained and that wouldve been perfectly fine but every character motives made sense at the end, their journey throughout the story of the series are revealed to be very touching
the conclusion was full of heart, oh my god its so well written im🤯🤯
it's been a while i haven't seen a drama nailing that much the ending, i usually don't care if the ending is lackluster but when they actually pull it off that well, it's just the icing on the cake
amazing performances by kawaei rina and ken yasuda, that was absolute cinema, kino, peak fiction, too bad the drama floped
currently at episode 6, even if it somehow doesn't stick the landing at the ending, every episode manages to be fresh, funny and even hearfelt and impactful, at the end of the day and that's what matters the most to me, the ending is just the cherry on the cake on what is mostly an episodic series that don't misses any of its beats, every character are memorable and dept 5 is such a charming bunch, the sanada/sumidagawa ship got me actually invested a lot, it is by far the best dorama i've seen this year
now's the movie is out and subbed, i would be curious to know how you think it compares to the novel!
it's not that hard to get in really, linking your mdl should be ok, and that protect the subber work from getting stolen from stream sites that makes money with these free subs and also put the subber at risk
In episode 1 around the 20:00 mark we learn that 6 members of the Hayashikawa family was murdered, the only survivor…
okay i'm so dumb, they keep telling higashikayama name for this murder so i ended retain this name as the name of the family who was killed even though it's just the name of the area they are living and their name was hayashikawa (and i forgot uta's name was uta.. hayashikawa for a minute), so it felt so weird when they talked abt the family with the name hayashikawa in last episode while they spend the whole series just saying higashikayama
i guess they wanted to show narukawa in a better light and give him a little of a redemption in a jdorama fashion,…
well you got your answer then, they wanted to end it on the higashiyama's house, i actually got some chills seeing kyoko getting caught by komugi, so even if we lose some effect with narukawa, this switch up makes things more heartbreaking in the way the depict kyoko, and it's hard to see komugi at the end of ep 9 of the drama this way.
As a manga reader, I'm a bit disappointed after watching the latest episode. The way they revealed the culprit…
i guess they wanted to show narukawa in a better light and give him a little of a redemption in a jdorama fashion, and they thought the audience wouldn't like narukawa if he was that bad
but you got me curious tho, so in the manga he was caught redhanded? he was going to kill someone else? who was he targeting? and who caught narukawa then? would be interesting if it was anan..
Damn, only 3 episodes to wrap it all up and reveal the killer. The final volume was released today, the manga's…
its 7 volumes total and vol 5 chapter 17 is when prosecutor talked to komugi, so beginning of ep 6 in the drama, numbers add up (the drama also added a lot of new scenes)
also sonoko journalist colleague suddenly getting a girlfriend in spinoff after showing that creepy behaviour in the series just so that we doubt him feels really cheap

but them realizing their love was the only thing that's genuine, and not the fruit of some manipulation on this whole mess, was sweet i guess
good show overall, i don't think i'll remember it deeply, but it was entertaining and suprisingly well crafted
