Noticed that 15 years ago, QY was the one against helping Wei while XQ's dad was the one wanted to help Wei but now QY wanted all the glories and respect from WS....So shameless.....
This drama emphasized the importance of the lord's counselor. Wei's counselor is a wise guy hence the territory prosper and the lord is a great and happy plus snatched a great furen. LangYan's counselor is a snob who looked down on QX (lynx vs weasel) hence his lord lost a valuable wife and became unhinged, territory suffered. Qiao's counselor is a son of a biscuit, the lord is about to go under.
The writing pays respect to each characters, the writer gives them depth not 1 dimensional baddy or 1 dimensional saint plus the characters develop in a coherent way. Especially with enemy to lover trope, some drama turned the characters into idiot simp and the revenge totally forgotten. But we can see WS and XQ struggles clearly.

In hindsight, the cockblocked fiasco is actually a good thing. So when they enter their REAL marriage, they are free from hidden baggage and no more secret between them. Qiao Clan or ManMan in particular won't bear a stigma of a honey trap.
