In fairness both are awfully flawed characters. Her childhood was total crap while his love life was trash. Both got deep trauma when it comes to loved ones with polar opposite results. She’s crazily craving for every bits of affection while he shuts down any potential of affection.

Both are liars BUT she lies to gain affection while he lies for far more sinister purposes. I teared up during a scene where she was so touched when her husband's son addresses her as SIL and pocked a straw to a soya milk for her. She is so starves of affection that such a simple gesture brought her to her knees.
Well, I'm up to eps 25 and I can say that despite her anger and hatred toward her white hot husband, deep down A Yue do not blamed him completely. There is s tiny bit of understanding where she knew all the tragedy weren't totally his faults.
I'm just starting and in the middle of eps 4. So he knew she is pretending, she knew he knew she is pretending AND he knew she knew he knew she is pretending.
I like Joseph as an actor and I know he is good but this role is on another level of good for him. I'm bracing myself for when the angst hits hard.

My only complain is how they dumbed down BZ in the drama while in the original book he is a mighty smart and strong person. His strength is comparable to WS. While in the drama he is so insignificant unambitious, only doting on wife.
