The thing is LR was introduced in the show (ErLang's life)before ErLang got involved in the investigation. Four Season Clan killed off his Dad but they didn't expect that he will teamed up with another 2 to digs around and even found out lots of their shady dealings.
In the interview SY did say that she is not part of the investigation, she is only responsible in the romance part. She is a "tool" in moving the story ahead especially when it comes to ErLang's investigation. She is also a person to "educates" ErLang in the EQ department. Her little Bro "helped" with the Ke Tribe arch, her Dad was involved in the elixir arch. Her family do contributed in one way or another in the investigation and of course added problems too....
