Thank you for taking your time and explainig it in such a clear way. To be honest I hardly could believe that a series could have 40 episodes without feeling that long. But I felt also the same while watching Spiealm (which was the first Chinese drama I watched after The Untaemd, which I've watched years ago). Even though I had already watched several episodes in a row, I really had to restrain myself from going on nonstop. I’m glad they're stand-alone.As you said, some characters appear across all of the series, and that really made me feel like they’d inevitably get attached somehow. Since it’s a universe I’m not used to, I might start with Blood River to let the bromance help keep me going. Even though I have no idea when I’ll actually watch them, instead of ignoring the shows altogether, I’ll at least add them to my plan-to-watch list. Again, thank you so much for your answer.

As for the series you recommended, I actually thought about starting them, but I never really dared to, because they’re literally 40–50 episodes long (typical Chinese dramas tbh). On top of that, they’re all connected, and that sh.t really scares me, so I try to avoid them as much as possible. There's also the whole tomb connected (lost tomb/tots) series ,which has too many side and shared universe series. This one is also one of my biggest nightmares lol

As someone who’s watched the whole series except that one, for the exact reason you said, I’ll respectfully shut up. Some endings are just built to hurt, I guess.

Oh hun, i was literally talking about their s.x life. In Asian bls they hardly switch ,which I find absurd, so I really didn't see that coming when it happened lol.

To spoil it a lil, the main characters were together at the police academy, and after that they worked together for a while as well. When they first run into each other at the beginning of the series, Louis sees that Daniel seems to be on the mafia’s side and approaches him with prejudice, etc. But it turns out that Daniel is actually on an undercover mission, trying to earn their trust and eventually become an heir. The series basically revolves around a drug operation, Daniel pursuing Louis, Louis giving in and trying to trust him.

Okay, so typical short series quality BUT the way they switchedddd
