Sad for at least a week... hahaha. It is sad, but it is realistic like other good melos like Que Sera, Sera...very realistic kind of script. Dark, deep, passionate romances that can kill. This you might like.
The drama is not liked by many because of the dark plot. It will not have happy, fluffy, funny, and cute couples, so most watchers dont like it. It deals with mature subjects of day to day life, like greed and so on. Read the recommendation to Que Sera Sera in bottom of the drama page, because the reviews might have spoilers. There is a huge spoiler at the end. Nway... if anything ask Bi. :p

But I do like Romance when it has a lot of all the other stuff mentioned before.
Oh! I just remember this drama...lol. Rita-chan I know you said you will stay away from melodramas. But I think I start to realize what type of melodramas will (if not in great amount, in the least) intrigue you. Hold on...first I must check if you have seen this drama because if you have then I just need to bite my tongue for ever. LOL.
YES! You havent watch it...muawhahahahaha. Im being very evil atm because you dont like melos and Im about to tell you about one. All Im going to say is that it is the best melo I have ever watched. Not WTWB, or any other like it. It is a drama with Jo In Sung, Ha Ji Won, and So Ji Sub. What Happened in Bali. But please, if you ever consider giving this bomb of a drama a try, do it when you are ready for melos LMBO.
I had Biyas watching it with me, and we both were left

I also like mystery and dark stories. The darker, the more I like it. Not in the sense of the occult (which is another theme I like) but in the sense that it will play with your head till it hurts, like The Black Swan. Or Requiem for a Dream.
Of classics my favorite dark story is The Picture of Dorian Gray. I can't think of any other story that portraits the darkness that can be found inside of us better than this one. But then again, Wilde was waaaay ahead of his times. I would have loved to meet him.
We both know Im not too fan of romances (WTWB is a rarity lol)

Not only because I had some experience with the illness, but the movie really is amazing in the way it deals with something we all suffer from: lack of motivation to become the person we are meant to be. Still they are treating this as a problem of these two people that come together because of their illness, but then again, they arent the ones with the real problem and so on...this kind of plot just makes me feel alive. I love stories like this one.

Hahaha Rita-chan so true.
I haven't seen any of those films, except for Casablanca, but I do know some of the directors you mentioned (I mean I know of their work) and I can see you have a vast taste in movies.
I do too... I can get sit with joy through a lengthy -boring to everyone else- film and find it amazing if it has to deal with the human psych. I enjoy philosophical plots enormously, hence my love for 3 Iron despite I dislike all KKDuks movies.
I also like period films, war, and the way of the world kinda deal, but very romanticized, like in The Last Samurai. I love stories that have to do with the inner emotions of a person, like one of my recent favorite films is Silver Lining Playbook. WOW. This film blew me away, and touched close home because I had a boyfriend who suffers from Bipolar Disorder, so I could connect with every character in that movie, and wow...

I think 3 Iron is one hell of a movie, I just loved every minute. I'm not too keen on artsy films, because it feels like the director is trying too hard to convince me of something...meh. But 3 Iron was a treat. I liked it so much I placed it at the top of my list but I think that was more the hype at the moment than anything, my all time Asian favorite has to be The Chaser. A crime thriller done Hitchcock style. ;)

Itadakimasu, I say it to myself when I have lunch. I love it. <3

My question now is, what kind of films intrigue you most?

In return I can answer your big question! And of course Ill get back to you after I finish the drama ^ ^ How can I resist?? lol
Tarantino did a few good movies and got famous. Despite the movies being not of our liking (because I'm included in this group...of two)Pulp Fiction which is I believe one of the films that sent him flying to stardom straight from earth, is rave by critics and lots of film enthusiasts (I don't care for the plot either way) Then he did Kill Bill which is pretty good for an action film about a phoenix heroine, that was cool. True, he lacks in intellectuality which he makes up for in his latest Django in very unconventional ways as always, but the story has a lot more weigh than any of his other movies ( in my opinion, others might kill me for this I guess...)
KKD tries too hard to be artsy in most of his films. But he got it right in 3 Iron.

I loved Gatsby, it was a really intense movie and so beautiful. The story I found to be very cynical, it reminded me of real life :p

Aki-Chan!!!!!!!!!!!! my hero of all the young ladies that are in my life. :p
Okay I went a bit overboard there, but yay for manliness and guys with lots of facial hair and body hair (specially legs and arms) ugh, its so freaking HOT!!
Takeshi was my first Asian love, did you know? My mom discovered him for me in a movie, called me from my room. I was fed up with something atm, so I was annoyed that she was interrupting me, when I got to the living room and saw his face on screen I told my mother I never loved anyone else in my life more than her. Well, that is true either way...meh for lame jokes. But really that's what happened. Oh right, then I proceeded to buy all his movies.

OMG why do I keep hugging your wall, and why do I find the fact you dislike Kim Ki Duk and Tarantino's film surprising?? I thought those were the kind of films you would like. But then again, I think a person who continues to surprise me is even better!! <3 twinnie.

BTW I so hate 'ottoke' and wide eye kisses, ugh.
My favorite phrase is 'itadakimasu' such a strong meaning in one word.
Miyazaki of course lol, and smoking guys!!!!!! *.*
Where is that video I made for the pretties? lol.

Why did I marked spoiler all the comments below? o.0

I think I would loved King2Hearts to pieces if it weren't for something they did which made me upset at Koreans more than anything. And isn't the reason why I was upset the same reason why they did that? Hahaha, it is a funny thing but feelings and the sense of pride for what you know and feels home to you is something so strong we cannot shake it off.
Still, I rated it high, your 7 for Winter drama did made me pout a bit, but that's just because we love passionately when we do hahahaha...now worries my friend, I understand you even if at the moment I saw the 7 I swore I didn't.
On another note, you could like Nine, yes I agree you need to be ready for Korean dramas again. Take your time.

I need to find the time for my new drama schedule T_T
I want to watch so many!!! :D

Don't be sorry dear Rita. Remember how much we bash each others favorite dramas, but we are still twinnies because we just are ;)
Another thing that I loved was the excellent use of camera work, this director and his crew were the ones from Padam, Padam, which I believe I told you was not my favorite from that season yet I gave it a 10, because it was such a well done drama. I don't think That Winter The Wind Blows is better in technical terms, because the story is a bit stretchy in some aspects compared to Padam, Padam. But I definitively love the characters here more, and I have to love the way they story focuses on Oh Soo's inner feelings and thoughts, he is such a well crafted character despite the mistakes made. The one thing I didn't buy was how quickly he fell for her, but that is not a problem for me when everything else is magical. :)

I have not finished it yet, as crazy as it sound. I had a very busy time last month with school, work, and life overall so I have yet to finish the last 4 episodes I think.
I have to admit to some of your points (I read your review) there is a overacting, and lots of mushy moments which in other dramas would have been my point to hate, but what made me fall in love with this drama was the wonderful respect the director has for art in life. The first scene of the drama, with the tree in winter, and the music, and the camera pulling you in...wow, that was the best scene I have ever seen in any drama. It spoke of the whole drama in one single frame. That made me love this drama.
I have to finish it to fully understand your dislike (the end) and the dislike for the end of so many other people, but as of now, the drama takes a 9 from me.

LMBO you are too cute. <3

Time travel stories (when done well for the most part, like in this case) Are very interesting because they can make us think about so many things in life. Like our inner desires, and sense of survival, our truest and deepest emotions ( I think I already said that) Have you seen Long Love Letter? Its an old Japanese drama, very poor production so it feels like you are watching a show from the 70s, but the story is very intriguing, and the actors are good in it.

ceased to exist when he died, so they cannot show you what happens because from his point of view is non-existent.

They can only show you what happens with the life that continues, which is the one that was in the past.
This is why I say time travel shit is CONFUSING!!! But I get your point, you wanted the drama to end in that life.I guess what they wanted to show is that he now understood what he needed to do, and was going to accomplish it better. Which is what I didn't like of the ending, it means he cheated fate after all. And I'm too conservative to get that, I like that we cannot cheat fate.
I think we can do what we can with our lives, until our fate catches up with us and compels us to live the way we are meant to. Otherwise we will become miserable souls, like so many people in this world are bitter and lost in life.
