But after the kids grow older, it starts getting even better because of all the lies and secrets. Also being suspense, it has crime, and the main lead is a detective. Pretty good so far.
Last, there is Empire of Gold which is a drama about the conglomerate world in Korean during the 90s.
It has very little romance so far (episode 8) and It deals a lot with strategies to steal companies from rich people and so on... its pretty interesting. I'm drawn to the fact the main character turned into a bad person because of the way his father lived. With decency, poor, but with decency. He doesn't want to be poor, so he is very immoral. No that to be rich you have to be immoral, but it's interesting how his perspective is all messed up.
I'm also watching some other dramas from last year, and two Taiwanese romcoms.

Cruel City is a spy drama, and it deals with the criminal world and the master-mind plots, etc. It has a good steamy romance, but they don't spoil the drama with mushy moments. It's all very noir, and old hollywood style. I like it a lot.
Another drama that caught my attention was Goddess of Marriage because it deals with mature relationships and the theme is one Im currently obsess with: love that grows with time vs fantasy like love (I just met you and Ill die for you kinda love) So I'm hooked on it.
Then there is Scandal which Biyas is also watching with me. This drama is a suspense melo, but its not like IM or Winter which was about romance. This drama is about a man who loses his son because of another man's greed, and in an interesting turn of events he kidnaps the son of the bad guy. The kid grows up thinking he is his father. Pretty intense, full of sad moments with the kids

I was enjoying the drama, and yamapi was very funny. I think I might start watching it again soon, because once I turn to Japanese is hard to stop hahaha. Although the same happens with Koreans, or Taiwanese, but not as strong. The problem (or my problem) is that Korean dramas are more accessible or I should say more easily accessible to me, I have no clue where to watch Japanese dramas ever since DC shut down. :(
And about the new dramas I'm watching. Well I sorta came back from my slump with Japanese dramas. Isn't it funny? We both did. Twinnies.

The drama that started it was Saikou no Rikon with Eita. I find him to be an excellent young actor, and I just really love all his characters. Well, the ones I have watched lol.
Then I watched a couple of other Japanese dramas, and finally I started Cruel City (korean) I even got Biyas hooked. Now she is in love with it.

Oh Im glad you liked my little description. Yes 5 is not enough, and I realized after seeing how you had given room to another top 5 that I needed to add all the dramas I think deserve a top 5 in any list... or a top 10 ^^

Then it got me thinking I love my top 5 not because they are "best" dramas as in technically speaking, but because they hold something special to me. So I had to describe that and let friends know that I'm not given 10s just because of the technical aspects of a drama, but mostly because of how they made me feel. I am confident I have good taste. Hahaha.

And you make me laugh with your yamapi rampage. Also, I believe that you found acceptance in yourself while watching a good doze of Japanese dramas. They are so simple, and beautiful, and adorable, it's hard not to like them. When they have yamapi in it, it's even more adorable. LOL.
Sadly I did not finish Monster..

Oh wow you changed all your favorite dramas to only Japanese? What happened? lol.
I have to watch Bara no nai Hanaya. Biyas recommended saying it is the type of drama that would make it to my top list. So I must definitely have to try it out. Too many distractions lately, but I will watch it.

If the mountain won't come to Muhammad...
Love the Yamapi tribute. I personally love his smile although he does have a problem with showing his teeth so he covers it :/

Well twinie. I just don't know how else to come by here, because you don't write me anymore :(
But I still have love for you.
Hope life is well. :)

Gave LS a try and didnt stick with it, but I have not dropped it either. I will one day complete it. There are so many good dramas to watch out there, and I have no time for them all. However, I keep bumping into ones that arent as good as others say LS is. So I have no clue whats going with me, but to not discard it, I have put it on my on hold list I think.

Oh I didnt remember about the drama. Yes of course I'll be watching Two Weeks.
So, since I know you like to download and stuff, are you going to wait for a bit before you start watching it or are you going to watch as it airs? Because I can wait if you are going to wait. Then we can watch together <3

Ill check out Watashi Sunday. Tomorrow I have a busy day, but I think I have that drama on my PTW list and I was actually trying to watch it once, but I dont know what happened that I didnt. lol.

Black and white because he is that old. But Alain was just gorgeous, he had the perfect beauty for a man.

Here Ill bamboozle you with something I like :p

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AgOGDqv0Q_c

In this movie he also reminded of me of Alain Delon in his noir film Le Samurai. I thought I was crazy because they don't look alike, but still he kept reminding me of Alain. Then I read other people were comparing the two movies, and the actors.
Is not that they are alike, Alain was gorgeous, Lee is attractive. But there is an air about the two that is similar. Plus like I said, he had me at chocolate fudge. His acting in this movie is incredible.

It's hard to say what I liked about Lee. He is not exactly a pretty boy, although he is attractive.
But I first saw him in the film Addicted, and I was not even into Asian dramas then. I was oblivious to this world. It was about 10 years ago.
I saw the film at my local video store rental, and fell in love with the story and the meaning of it. But also Lee looked like an Asian version of Alain Delon who is by far the most beautiful man that has ever been in films, internationally (actually not said by me, but it is something that was recognized for the longest time until he grew old and was not popular anymore) So Lee reminded me of him in certain scenes, and I fell for him.
Then I watched Beautiful Days and that also contributed to my love, but what sealed it was his acting in A Bittersweet Life. He had me at chocolate fudge. lol.

I'm someone who watches Love Me Not every year (even twice) but first time I hated the ending. I guess we tend…
Also The Departed with Leo, but that movie is a remake of Infernal Affairs a Chinese film, which I believe is better than the remake, and the remake was good.
The Departed was so great, a lot of people watched the original. ^ ^
Blood Diamond is another example of what I was talking about being negative characters and so on. He was just that, and redeemed himself with his death for the father and son. I loved it. Also the actor who plays the father has the most beautiful smile I have ever seen. It made me cried just looking at it.

Hope you give WHIB a try once more. To be honest, I did the same as you, and for years didnt complete the drama. I knew the end, and didnt want to go through the suffering. However, I was glad to group watch it with a friend, and the result was it became one of my top 5 dramas of all times.

And again I must tell you that the end in What Happened in Bali is pure greatness. You have to watch the entire drama to understand why this end is so fitted to this story. Why these three characters, that are all negative, and doomed must have this ending. Because like she said at the beginning "Welcome to Bali; Paradise on Earth" what started in Bali, had to end in Bali; and these three people were NEVER going to be happy on earth. Thus, death was some sort of relieve to end their bitter fate. Trust me, in life, worst things happen.
We can't forget that whatever wrong you do you must pay for. This is the basic development for fiction character. How you get to the end is what makes the story worth watching/reading, but the end also needs to put closure to the main idea. What was the main idea of this story? Does the end supports it? If yes, then you have got yourself a good ending.
